Ben Knight
There was no information, Bearcat. That was the problem. I listed in my item all the facts I wanted to be able to give you -- offsides, time of possession, goalposts, saves. In absence of that, it was blasting time. loyola
Hi Ben, Did you call someone at the CSA? Do you have access to the players or coaches phone numbers to request phone interviews after the game? Just wondering. Thanks

Ben Knight
Here's the scoop, guys. They got on a plane and flew to St. Lucia. Morgan Quarry, the guy I'd most trust and be most likely to call, got sick in Florida and never made the trip. It's not as easy as you might think to get a player on the phone after a game -- particularly on the road. For myself, I'm unlikely to use a player's view point for a game story. There is a huge difference between being on the field, concentrating on the action, and being in the stands, counting things. I also find that kind of reporting to be disruptive to teams, believe it or not, and it's not my preferred way to go. I'd rather let the team deal with things on their own, grab the stats off the wire, and draw my own conclusions. I'll happily talk to a player -- now and then -- for a feature story. But not for a basic game report. FYI // BK

Though I can appreciate how challenging it can be to get the info and to reach players after a match I really think that a player's perspective on the match can at times be very revealing. Sure, most of the time you'll get the standard cliches, etc., but there are times when he can shed some light on a particular situation. For instance, I would loved to have heard Stalteri's comments on his yellow and red cards in SA. It's just my two cents on this issue and the fact that you addressed my concerns tells me a lot about you. By the way, anybody who reads my posts on this board knows that though I sound pretty harsh at times, I can be full of praise for someone when I see a job well done. And I'm sure that I'll be reading a future article of yours and say "right on, Ben!"
