VPjr
I don't have details yet but I'm trying to find them. It's going to be tough to get a dollar figure. What do you think that $1.00 per head registration fee increase is going toward?

VPjr
its made public but its not exactly what you would call "revealing". I'm sure they'll find a way to hide/obscure what the true cost of this settlement is. Plus, by reporting the settlement now, we won't see any record of the impact of the settlement for over a year from now when they publish their 2008 financial figures. By that point, they expect we will have forgotten about it.
Whither Canada
http://www.globesports.com/servlet/story/RTGAM.20080128.wsptcsa28/GSStory/GlobeSportsSoccer/home "Nykamp was asking for just over $1.22 million in damages for negligent misrepresentation. The statement of claim also called for $432,000 in damages for breach of contract and wrongful dismissal, $100,000 for punitive and exemplary damages, plus compensation for other expenses. The CSA's fiscal budget for 2007 was roughly $12.5 million." If the settlement figure is even close to what he was asking for - and I'm not saying it is - that's 10% of the 2007 budget. The mind absolutely goggles.
CanadasBest
This was a smart move. Based on the info published in the media I'm confident they would have lost.
The Ref
Time to audit the CSA. The only thing is it needs to be a forensic audit with all records, hardcopy and harddrives being subpoena first. http://www.theglobeandmail.com/blogs/soccerblog

Vic
It's been a tragic year, for a lot of the teams on the field, and off the field in the boardroom. It's just not working. I fail to see how a version of the Crawford Report is anything less than a great turning point for Canadian soccer. And I think anyone who stands in it's way is part of the problem. Cashcleaner
I don't know the details of exactly how the CSA operates, but could we not just form a new soccer program and sign members up for it? I mean, the CSA needs government funding and membership fees to run, right? Why don't we create an alternate organisation and suggest players and clubs transfer their membership over? Don't know if thats doable, just wondering if it actually is possible or not.

Then you would be faced with the same problems the CSA is faced with. As much as I dislike them, they are not alone in causing the problems. Fort York Redcoat1555362293
If an organization was developed that became more popular than the CSA run leagues I couldn't see the CSA running without money and FIFA would eventually have to look at other more popular ( and wealthier ) Canadian alternatives,no? Cashcleaner
^ That's what I was thinking. FIFA just certifies the CSA as the national program, right? I mean, if another organsisation came along and did a better job, wouldn't FIFA revoke the CSA's certification and grant it to the new group?
