Let's talk about Hutch

After seeing the other fella's DeRo 'Banana Boat Song', I came up with this little number while in the shower. I submit it to the board for approval.

(to the tune of Salt N Pepa's 'Let's talk about Sex')

Let's talk about Hutch, baby.

Let's talk about J-D-G.

Let's talk about Radz and Hume, Tam and Lars,

and Stal-ter-eeeee.

Let's talk a-bout Hutch!

It's getting close to WCQ, and there should be some effort from our supporters to build up a decent repertoire of simple, catchy songs that can be started by a small group but will be easy enough that whole sections might join in. The DeRo 'Banana Boat Song' is a great example.

Its ok, Im not sure this particular tune will do anything towards intimidating / strike fear in the hearts of visiting teams.

I think you missed your calling SthMelbRed. No boy bands in Australia?

:D you never heard of Take That?

great song either way. change the middle part to something easier to shout in unison (methinks the "hume and radz, tam and lars" part will come out as garbled shouting in a crowd of 20 000) and it could strike fear into the heart of central American opponents [}:)]

edit: how about "lets talk about goals and assists for the Gold Cup M-V-P" or something along those lines

Someone started a Voyageurs song book in the Voyageurs section of the forum maybe add these songs there before we forget them

I've only really been active on this message board for the past couple of months, but in that time, my impression has been that the Voyageurs section of the forum doesn't get much traffic. Perhaps people should throw their songs out on this section for random feedback from the larger group, then the ones that get positive reaction could be 'promoted' to a sticky thread in the Voyageurs section.

On the other two points, I do agree that the middle line is a bit forced. I couldn't find names that flowed quite as smoothly as in the other lines. And I don't think that intimidation of the opposition is the specific goal. Crowd songs should simultaneously give our boys on the pitch a positive lift and keep large sections of the crowd active in between significant periods of on-pitch action. Goals, tackles, and positive effort by the players need to serve as the punctuation that whips the crowd into bouts of frenzy.
