Hello Voyageurs,

Just an update on our continued coverage of Canadian Issues on The Footy Show (The Score Television Network.)

Tentatively we have Tony Waiters booked for an upcoming show, likely to be next Friday Jan 25th.

We are also hoping to have CSA President Dominic Maestracci on the show this Friday (6:30pm et,) all depends on his availability with regards to the meetings that commence this weekend.

As always, Paul James will offer his opinions on Canadian issues.

We encourage your questions and feedback. Let us know your thoughts at thefootyshow@thescore.ca and please let us know who else you would like to make an appearance on The Footy Show.

Also this week, Carl Robinson of Toronto FC will join the panel as we chat Kevin Keegan, MLS draft, and just how unrealistic are the pressures of being a manager these days.

James,

Do you have any "insiders"/reporter types in England that you could have phone interviews with during the show. You used to have Webb, right (though I'm not sure he was media affiliated)? Sort of like what Peter King and Chris Mortenson do on TV for the NFL. Is anyone from the Beeb, Sky, the Times or the Guardian available for a brief weekly segment, or are they just too expensive to get? Just a suggestion for the future.

My question is:

"As you know, Canada is going into a very hard World Cup qualify campaign. Will the the CSA finally stop trying to make the opposition and their fans feel at home on Canadian soil? Can we please stop with the steel bands, removal of pro Canada banners, and non-segregated sections?"

and yes I already emailed it in.

Maestracci is utterly hopeless. You know he's out of touch when he thinks the TV revenue from domestic women's and men's pro leagues will solve their funding problem. It ain't gonna happen yah knob!

Agreed most of what he was saying was complete BS. When asked why the CSA couldn't give the nominating power to the executives and take it away from the board he just basically said we could change it, but this is the way we do it.

No, not a lot to say worth listening to, but it was odd when he said had the U20s performed better there'd have been fewer bullseyes drawn on the CSA. Yes, if you're programs are successful you'll get credit if they're not you'll draw criticism. (So what exactly did you expect when as the host side your on field product embarrassed itself)?

Bah, I'm convinced. Between the Soccer Show last night and the Footy Show today there is no doubt in my mind Maestracci is just another Kevin Pipe, but with an accent.

P.S. Lovvved how he made the point that the CSA and the FIFA U20s program are two seperate entities and how an operating loss incurred by one doesn't reflect on the other. Of course completely ignoring the fact that if FIFA doesn't pony up for those losses they'll just disappear and not effect the CSA in any way and</u> how it was still possible for the most successful U20s in the history of mankind to some how still loose money. Classic Kevin Pipe move there. Almost felt nostalgic for a second.

the u20 WC tourney was likely set up as a seperate business entity.

If there are losses, and if FIFA doesn't pick them up, the CSA will have to. case closed.

as for the resistance to making real change to the board structure, the provincial presidents will have to essentially vote to fire themselves. In the immortal words of George H Bush (the elder), "not gonna doooo it".
