Good stuff. Who are you guys affiliated with? Clips like these do wonders to bring the players closer to the fans.

the whole stalking Todd Dunivant bit would be funny if it wasn't a little weird... was he in on it? he almost looks pissed when you met him outside gate 4!!! either that or he's a great actor!

At the end of the clip there is a "blooper" where they had to do a second take.

Dunivant turned around and walked back to his original spot in the shot.

Humorous and very informative videos. The players really don't like Turf-Grass do they?! The politest thing I heard was "I hope they get rid of it". They should try the GrassMaster system. Real grass reinforced with fibers 8 inches deep.

I know they cover BMO field for part of the year but they have to find some solution that the players can stand.

TFC is kinda a lab rat for FieldTurf and it's multi-use economy isn't it?

In 2008 we get to see how much effect a winter worth of hard use has had on the surface. When they promoted the plastic as being durable and of professional use quality besides, I don't think they had 500 hours of off-season wear and tear in mind.

Now when compared to natural grass maybe it's still economical to replace the plastic turf portion with some frequency but when? And does that replacement period hurt the pitch quality even further from a professional stand-point?

Very interested to see how the turf's held up.

The first 'FieldTurf' complex in Canada was the Burnaby Lake West Sports Complex, where many of the western based national training sessions take place. When it opened in '99, it was advertised as a 20-year surface. The truth is, after nine years it is in poor shape. It was really good for the first three or four years and has deteriorated rapidly thereafter. It is in constant use by schools during the week, and community sports in the evenings and weekends. Soccer, football, lacrosse, and field hockey are used on some or all of the three fields.

Nine years of development has meant big advances in the technology of FieldTurf. Nobody suggests FieldTurf is superior to a top quality natural grass pitch which the operators can afford to preserve for use only once or twice a week but the latest FieldTurf product properly installed and maintained is amazingly good and certainly much more durable than any natural grass pitch and even the hybrid Grassmaster. 2008 FieldTurf is markedly better than the FieldTurf of the nineties.

Just wondering how quickly the top portions, the turf itself, will have to be replaced in order to be up to something resembling a professional surface. So a plastic surface might last 10 years with heavy rec use but I doubt that means 10 years of being up to FIFA standards.

But the pitch only gets the longest hours of abuse over the winter so that's not as bad as say a 365 day program. But the field has to be up to much higher standards than a community park field. But maybe replacing the turf every three years is economical just because the pitch is</u> generating revenue in the off season. But the abuse from use is less harmful than six inches of snow and being frozen for six months. But, but, but.

Don't know. But this indoor-winter, outdoor-summer model they're using at BMO is the real world sea-trials of FieldTurf's viability for other locations in Canada with similar schemes in mind. So I'm very interested in seeing how it all works out.

oh yeah, I figured the scene in the bushes was a setup, I was just wondering about Todd's reaction when he was leaving BMO at gate 4 and the interviewer was waiting outside for him. Great stuff either way.
