James Sharman
Hello Voyageurs, I hope the New Year is being good to you. We will be interviewing Jason De Vos on Friday's "The Footy Show" on The Score. Obviously Jason's recent comments regarding the CSA will be addressed as well as his career and current season at Ipswich. As always, we welcome your feedback, and thoughts on what you'd like us to discuss with Jason, as well as players, coaches, and execs you'd like us to try and track down for future shows. Paul James will once again provide his commentary on all things Canada following the De Vos interview. On Saturday's show Neil Davidson will join me as we take a look ahead to 2008 from a Canadian perspective. www.thescore.ca will also post these segments. Thanks for the continued support, as promised we'll be making a huge effort to address pertinent Canadian issues this year, in what should be a very intriguing time for the national program. Cheers, James Sharman The Footy Show - Fri - 6:30pm et, Sat 6:30pm et, Sun 11am et, Mon 6:30pm et. www.thescore.ca

Gian-Luca
Perhaps you might ask him (1) how serious he is in getting involved with the administration of the game after his playing career is over and (2) has he spoken to Dale Mitchell at all about playing again for Canada (given that Dale recently said on the Score that he wasn't ruling anybody out of the squad)
Guest Ed
Ask him 1. Is Toronto FC in his path in the next year or so? 2. Who would he pick as Cdn player of the year? 3. What would he recommend for Jaime Peters?
Sam
Ask him to compare the current squad to the 2000 gold cup winning squad. And keep up the fantastic interview James.

Toronto MB
I second GL's motion. Please ask him if he and Mitchell have spoken about a return to the squad for WCQ. And if he has chosen to decline the invite, which I suspect he has, why did he do so? Cheers and thanks for all the great content lately.

Cheeta
Ask him if he knows what kind of voodoo it's going to take for Ipswich to win a match on the road this year.
Trillium
Ask him if his interest in the CSA is adminstrative as president etc...or as coach. Depending on the reponse ask if he is preparing himself educationally for such a role, i.e. sport management courses or FIFA internship programs..or licencing programs and spot to develop as professional coach, before moving to a national level. BearcatSA
quote:Originally posted by Marc 3. What would he recommend for Jaime Peters? is a good question I wonder if his answer will be political speak which could be summed up with the words "grow up." Or maybe he will shed a more thoughtful perspective on Peters' situation.

KAS
1) Ask about returning to the MNT 2) Ask about post-playing career, such as coaching (any badges yet?), broadcasting (he was great for one TFC match) or swinging a wrecking ball at a certain house on Metcalfe street in Ottawa (with the CSA board inside of course - if they ever show up for work). 3) I know he has to be very polite, but you have to ask him about Jaime Peters and how he has managed to completely vanish. forthegoodofthegame
I might ask: 1. Why did he tell Frank Yallop not to invite him into camps anymore? 2. Does he have ambitions to play for Canada again? 3. Did Jamie Peters make the right decision by signing with Ipswich? 4. Does he think Dale Mitchel is right man to take Canada to the World Cup? 5. Is there anyone specific within the CSA who is really causing a problem?
Vancouver Fan
After the interview it still isn't clear if Jason will declare himself available for Canada again. If Jason is truly wanting to suit up for Canada again he should just say so. He says that he feels that he could still help but that other players should be given the experience instead. He also fealt that after the 2006 qualifiers Canada would never make it to the World Cup if things did not change. For starters our chances of making it would increase with Jason on the team. Canada does not have anyone that can lead and captain like he can. He would be a tremedous addition. Cheeta
quote:Originally posted by Vancouver Fan After the interview it still isn't clear if Jason will declare himself available for Canada again. No? You didn't think so? I felt he left himself wide open to an invite to rejoin the NT program, selfless excuses aside. The invitation part being critical. If I'm right, this is one of those instances where a player/manager liaison would be valuable. (And I think assistant coach Hart fits that role to a tee. To an absolute tee. But that's for him and Mitch to work out if you follow me). Very good interview. The man is clearly still in tune with the goings on in Canadian soccer and all the while trying to be diplomatic, he's honest to a fault. James didn't pull any punches either regarding JDV, some of his team mates feelings about him and the political nature of the CSA beast. Good to see on him. Guest Dave
I'm starting to doubt that it will happen. I think that if Jason was approached by the MNT, and a committment made by the CSA to actually do what was best for the team this time round, that Jason would likely say "yes". Unfortunately, I doubt the CSA gives a rat's arse. The bit by Paul James afterward, where he said that "if I were Dale Mitchell I would be on the phone to JDV" was very telling. (quote paraphrased). Also I'm disappointed but intrigued by Paul James mentioning that he was "privy" to some things, and that JDV was not the most popular.... (it wasn't clear whether he meant JDV was unpopular with the CSA coaching staff, the CSA suits, or with certain other MNT players.) Actually I can see any of the above being true. Jason, being a true leader (in the Mark Messier style) will do and say what needs to be done, regardless of his popularity, and hence may not always be appreciated by some... and yet he is exactly what Canada needs right now. SthMelbRed
With all due respect to James Sharman, as it's certainly not his fault, but the Score's website has to be among the worst ones going. Not only is the streaming awful, but now it won't let me register so that I can post my comments. For the love of god, get a streaming format that allows buffering or give us a download option! It took me about half an hour to watch the DeGuzman interview a few weeks ago. I just can't bear the thought of struggling through that **** again to try to watch the DeVos interview. It's brutal! Now, rant over, could anybody out there possibly be so kind as to give us a transcript of the JDV interview?
