I'm just saying, it should look like this....

If available, Nsaliwa would be a very capable right back. Over his career he has played everywhere from wing mid, to holding mid, to attacking mid to centre back. He has good speed, good passing vision, great fitness and I have seen him do a great job in shutting down opponents on the denfensive end. All of this, combined with his right-footedness make him the best Stalteri sub at this point.

That being said, the only place I seem Tam fitting into the starting line-up is at CB as the quick and offensive counterpart to either DeVos or more likely McKenna. Should any of DeGuzman, Hutchinson, Hume or DeRosario be injured, he could no doubt fill in the gaps in midfield as well. Needless to say Tam is so valuable, and I want to know what the CSA is doing to get him back.

So in terms of the players we will likely have available for WCQ (Tam yes, Jono I would say not, DeVos I would say not):

--------------Friend------------------------

-------------------------Radz---------------

DeRosario------------------------------Hume

-----------DeGuzman------Hutchinson---------

Brennan------------------------------Stalteri

----------Nsaliwa------McKenna--------------

--------------------------------------------

---------------Hirshcfeld-------------------

Subs:

Occean (CF)

Gerba (Striker)

Bernier (Holding/Dist. Mid)

Imhoff (Holding mid)

De Jong (LB/LM)

Hastings (CB)

Onstad (GK)

Depth:

Ante Jazic (LB)

Mike Klukowski (LB)

Andre Hainault (CB)

Adrian Serioux (D/M)

Kenny Stamatopoulos (GK)

It's a shame we have too much depth at LB: Klukowski and Jazic are first team quality but Brennan (versatility/leadership) and De Jong (versatility) get the nod from me.

One too many backpasses nearly resulting in goals or concussions to our keeper. (imo)

First, that happenned twice and both weren't back passes from Hainault. It was balls that Hainault let to his keeper when there was an opposing forward charging.

Second, this was due to lack of communications and lack of knowledge between Onstad and Hainault. Even Onstad said this during the GC.

I think some are guilty of selective memory because apart from those 2 unorthodox play, Hainault played very well this year for Canada. I'm not saying he should be an automatic starter but people should cut him some slack with this.

IMO Tam is the X factor on this team

He`d really be the icing on the cake and it`s unbelieveable to me, that no one outside of this site knows who he is.

I`ve seen no interview with him and his entire situation is NEVER TALKED ABOUT..

CSA is truly a joke..

Owusu-Ansah is indeed very green, but I remember he made a few runs last summer that may have been the best offense I saw from the entire team. I`m excited to follow his development.

Exactly.. What Mithell said made me only more frustrated, just call the guy up for a match and force FIFA`s hand.. This is rediculous

I understand your frustration with the situation but I believe that FIFA kicked Mexico out of qualifying for WC 1990 for playing overage players in a youth tournament, IIRC. That sort of precedent needs to be acknowledged, particularly within the dubious politics of CONCACAF, if we choose to force FIFA's hand on the issue.

But like you, I have also wondered and asked why we can't get better coverage of this situation beyond Mitchell and the CSA. No media has stated publicly that they have tried to contact Nsaliwa, FIFA officials, or even gov't people who maybe involved.

As for my original question about the right back spot, with the pool we have available sansNsaliwa, it looks like we'll be using a utility guy as the deputy should Stalteri go down. The guys waiting in the wings, like Ledgerwood if he's back to health, will more than likely be too inexperienced, though if he starts featuring in his Bundesliga club side, we'll see what happens.

That was partially my thought, yes.

But also Hume has been playing a lot on the wings for Leicester and is a better crosser of the ball than Radz.

Radz has also been on a hot streak while playing as a natural striker with Xanthi. I find strikers are like goalies in hockey, best to go with the hot hand, and right now that is Radz and Friend.

I think that makes perfect sense provided the man fits the system you're using (and knows his strike partner, can we duct tape a few of our strikers together for a weekend or two?). I was arguing against Hume on the wing before because he didn't have recent experience there and Radz did, but now it seems the tables have turned...

There is no point in calling him until we are sure he can play. If he can't play then calling him is taking the spot away from someone who should be getting experience with the team.

Well, Dale Mitchell did give that lame comment in his footy show interview about Tam, that they were doing their best to sort it out or something like that with no actual explanation of what that means.

What was lame about the comment? He explained what was going on. What else is he supposed to do? It is not even in Dale Mitchell's hands to deal with the Nsaliwa situation and is probably being dealt with by the CSA's lawyers. If you want a song and dance man who is well spoken and nice to listen to we had that with Yallop and I think we all know how many times Yallop called Nsaliwa in WCQ.

What was lame about it was that it left us with no more information than before. While I do realize it is a bit unreasonable to have him pore over the details in a tv interview if he does know them, and that there are probably no developments to report on, it is still frustrating to get answers like that.
