The Impact games were on SRC which are also national broadcasts albeit in French. I think the TFC numbers are decent other than the ones on The Score and that is because many people do not have The Score. If I remember correctly a couple of the TFC games were not live but on delay and at least one was at a very late hour. The Impact numbers are excellent as well.

Any word if the Montreal matches will be broadcast on this coming year? Got quite a few games in last year, some good, some bad but would be keen to take in as many more as possible. They were actually quite well produced I thought and presented well on TV.

In defense of TFC's numbers, their broadcast schedule was all over the place as would be expected given the away matches being broadcast. A more consistant schedule with a more marketable kickoff time will help greatly. Given there are no U20s this year and the complaints which must be filtering upstairs at BMO Field about the home kickoffs being too early I'd guess there is a pretty good chance for improvement in this area.

Although SRC is broadcast nationally, most non-Francophone viewers do not watch

that station. Considering the Francophone audience is limited, it's amazing that

102K views watch the Impact on Fridays. (I usually watch them on that day, and I'm

in Western Canada.)

Congrats to the Montreal Impact and their fans for supporting a good brand of football.

Also too bad that of the 14 games broadcast on SRC, 12 were home games.

Counting the away game I went to in Rochester, there's only one I could have managed to see live (Rochester away in August).

The production is very good (except the main PBP guy, who's apparently very rough around the edges) and the contract is definitely a step in the right direction for the Impact.

I agree that the majority of viewers are in Quebec and the numbers are quite impressive. However, don't forget that there are large francophone communities outside Quebec that watch SRC particularly in Ontario (more than 500 000) and New Brunswick (about 250 000). Also sports programming tends to get viewers regardless of language (How many of us are watching games on sopcast with Chinese pbp?). TV5 gets a significant English audience for its French league broadcasts as does SRC for its hockey broadcasts when they are showing a different game than CBC. I think a number of posters here were watching the SRC Impact broadcasts. So while the majority of viewers may be in Quebec there is still a national audience for these games.

I think the SRC is viewed out in English Canada by francophones who cannot get cable/satellite of channels from Quebec and France.

And people watch the SRC in Quebec as well, just like people watch the CBC elsewhere, so I don't know what you mean Redhat.

I meant that SRC is viewed mainly by Francophones, which are fewer

in numbers than Anglophones. I doubt most Francophones in

St. Boniface, Manitoba (mainly Francophone) watch Impact soccer

(OR TFC for thatmatter). And I doubt that many in Prince Albert, SK

would be watching or following the Impact.

All I wanted to say was, it's impressive that the Impact could

get over 100K viewership, for a team really identified with

Montreal. And I enjoyed their brand of football.

It is impressive and I believe that people in Quebec and Sherbrooke watched these as well, or at least I hope so, we do sacrifice 2home games every year for them.

And I would expect non Quebec francophones to have watched at least one game because if TOFC is the Anglo Canadian team, the Impact is there for the other Canadians.

I suspect the number of non-Quebecois who have watched Impact games has more to do with whether they are soccer fans than the language they speak (though francophones are more likely to know about the broadcast because they watch SRC more). I think the region in which the Impact can claim a strong fan base is pretty much restricted to Quebec just like TFC's is primarily Toronto and southern Ontario. The rest of the viewers of both teams in other regions of Canada are mostly soccer fans interested in watching a Canadian team as opposed to real fans of the Impact or TFC. The Habs have some language based francophone support outside of Quebec but I don't think the Impact have that to a significant degree though if their profile was raised by joining MLS it might occur.

I watched as many games as I could of both teams mentioned above and it's safe to say it's not because any of them are my "Canadian" team.
