Cashcleaner
Just want to bump the thread and add my two cents. Last year I had the pleasure of joining my fellow Red Patch Boys on our first-ever road trip to Columbus. Honestly, it was UNBELIEVABLY COOL. Columbus was a hoot and the ride down and back was a total blast. And as an aside, we're fully expecting to book more buses as the demand goes up, so don't feel like you'll have no chance of making the crowd - we're going to add more buses as we need them. VPjr
The opening game falls on my birthday. I'm trying to get a few buddies together to do the road trip so we can meet you guys down there for the game. We'll be using hotel points to stay overnight for free. i can't wait. it's going to be a home game if we do this right.

Free kick
What was rush to get the ball rolling for the road trip organization given that the game is over four months away? eVERYONE WAs already booking their spots when the schedule was barely released which is six months before the game. The problem with these things is that, because its that far away on the calendar, you can never be sure of your availability and hence, you hate to commit far too early. And now you get nervous that there wont be anymore spots left. Sure, being well in advance ensures good preparation and no one will say its a bad thing. But sheez, we are going to Columbus here, on bus, and on a six hour drive; its not like we are going to europe.

True, but we want to be all in same section or sections in this case, not all over the stadium in small groups. Here are some updates from RPB away team. quote:our 5 buses have secured the 357 remaining seats in the lower corner that we usually go to. Sections 110, 111 and 112. Waiting on a confirmation email about that. Those tickets are for the 280 people on the 5 buses and 70 people who buy them first come first serve packages C,D and E. quote:We got room on the buses yet. All the extra tickets are sold out though.(70 ticks package C,D,E). No more room in the lower sections. We bought them all. we are now trying to get tickets in 210. quote:All packages are open...again. i had to put a hold on them until heard from the Crew rep. We are now up to 422 seats avail. and hopefully we are getting 400 more tomorrow. They are still debating whether to put us all in the south end for security reason and gives us more room for banners but between Ryan and I, we are doing our best to make sure they put us all in the sections we have traditionally sat in. There 800 seats all total in those sections and i told them we want them all!!!! lol So to make a long story short. BUY your tickets and send a deposit!!!!!!! It is only 3 days between first and last post. Maybe CSA should give TFC supporters groups to sell tickets for WCQ and BMO would be for sure sold out and pro Canadian. As poor as Columbus' attendance has been, this is the first game of the season, and there is a real concern that tickets will be at a premium. The first game of the season is also part of the Crew's "5-game Beckham pack" (it's actually called that, go look on their site) which means that the tickets are even more valued. Add in the fact that TFC itself is planning on offering (tamer) buses to its season ticket holders, and you can see why we started planning so early. We're likely going to have over 800 people between the various supporters group. Besides, it's actually only 3 months and 9 days until that game ;)

Free kick
In light of the level of advanced preparation and effort going into this trip for 550-600 km's, what are we going do for South Africa 2010? Shouldn't we be starting now? Toronto to Columbus OH - 350 miles - 4 months of advanced planning Toronto to Cape Town - 8156 miles - ?????? http://gc.kls2.com/cgi-bin/gc?PATH=YYZ-CPT&RANGE=&PATH-COLOR=&PATH-UNITS=mi&PATH-MINIMUM=&SPEED-GROUND=&SPEED-UNITS=kts&RANGE-STYLE=best&RANGE-COLOR=&MAP-STYLE= using that ratio and applying it to plans to go to the next WC, it means : 350/4 Months = 8156/x that equates to 93 months of advanced planning required ! [8D] or seven year in advance. I think that we are serious behind[8D]

Cashcleaner
^ I think all of the three big groups are going to offer different packages with varying prices. It might be best to take a look at them all and see what deal best suits your needs.

Yet, it's not implausible given the response we've already had towards this trip so far in advance.

If and when TFC decides to get buses going, the Columbus reps told me they will be put in 118 and 117. TFC will be promoting there buses as family buses and will be returning the same day. We have 566 seats held for us so far but this may change again. TFC needs to step up and get on the phone. apparently they are wanting to buy a big bloke of tickets and sell them to us at a cheap rate. We will see what they come up with in the new year so as of now the package E is $15 and everything stays the same until we hear from TFC.

I doubt one could charter due to the commercial rail restrictions on how VIA can use the rails but one could certainly arrange to block book a car or two. I'd be all for it. Much better than a bus. Lots of space and most importantly, no blue soup! db

Grizzly
VIA has arranged special trains for NHL games in the past. I think they may have also done this for CFL games.
