Trillium
Some have already alluded to the issues of who will be the keeper for qualification. Given the TFC may go without a Canadian Keeper how does Dale Mitchell ensure our potentional keepers are getting the work needed to stay in shape for the qualifying ? Does he have contacts to get the players rides in other countries outside Great Britian or Europe ?
Winnipeg Fury
I don't recall DM getting any players contracts in Europe. Considering he spent his entire career in NA, I would expect that he has very few club contacts in Europe. No question we need our goalies playing. Having 2 (Onstad, Hirschfeld) keepers getting playing time is not sufficient.
youllneverwalkalone
He might have helped Will Johnson get a contract in Holland by playing him in the '05 U20. Actually, I think Wagenaar signed shortly there after too. IIRC, Josh wasn't the top contender for the U20 job when qualifying started. Granted, it could be pure coincidence and/or Dutch heritage cause I remember Wagenaar gave up a horrible goal in that tourney that made him resemble Napoleon Dynamite in more ways than one. Wagenaar played approx 20 times with the U-20's and he was the number one as soon as the 2003 tourney ended (started first 2 games during qualification while Begovic started the last one). Yes, we all remember that blunder against Syria but I remember the most is his play against Colombia and Italy where he avoided embarrassement for our team. He's still a pretty young prospect but sadly his chronic back injury isn't helping.

But I don't think the last two are as good as Onstad or Lars.
Number6
Asmir Begovic is a long term possibility I think as well, maybe not for the Qualification round, although he had quite the homer of a time in the u20's, I wouldn't put him out to pasture just yet as someone who will be a good keeper for us.
