But did you see our team?? only Xausa and Fenwick are now gone, interesting note that alot of our players have been together for 5+ years for the national team.

See my Edit.

But i'm not sure we can say that a lot of players have been together for the last 5 yrs. Hirsch dissapeared for a while, Nsaliwa with his passport, Hastings is only back since this summer, etc.

A bunch of us were there.

We had a great stretch late in the first half where we played them off the park and the Scottish fans actually started whistling them. Imhof made a great run and then completely missed DeRo with a pass when he was wide open right near the penalty spot. Later Radz made a great run, cut it back to DeGuzman who had his shot handled off the line by Lee Wilkie.

We were caught shocking flat on the first goal (which was right after the DeRo pk) and Fenwick was culpable on the last two goals. I'm pretty sure it was the second one where Mac and Fenwick were messing around.

We played pretty well in the first half, but they came out took it from us in the second.

Yeah Berti Voghts was in charge. He was under big fire and the Scots won in Iceland earlier in the week to take some pressure off and then the win over us gave us some breathing room. Had we beat them he might have lost his job.

It was also one of McFadden's first caps. Perhaps even his debut.

cheers,

matthew

Not a great day for a lad playing on his home club park.

Wearing the arm band . . . I think he was just overwhelmed. DeVos pulled out late after picking up a knock in Plymouth with Wigan. He and McKenna never looked on the same page and Fenwick played almost every ball he got backwards.

I like Fenwick. He was an under-rated part of the 2000 Gold Cup run and he lost his club job because of it. But that night in Embra was not a good one.

I was in a club Saturday and they played Heaven by DJ Sammy and it took me right back to that windy night at Easter Road.

As gutted as I was after that game it was probably my top night with the Vees.

Was Vogts in charge of Scotland at the time? I was wondering how many of the Scotland line up featured in their recent Euro 2008 qualifying run.

Answer: Only McFadden has survived from the Canada game in 2002.

SCOTLAND vs. Canada 15/10/02:

Paul Gallacher - Maurice Ross (46: Callum Davidson), Lee Wilkie (75: Ian Murray), Steven Pressley, Christian Dailly, Russell Anderson, Graham Alexander, Stephen Crawford (89: Kevin Kyle), Steven Thompson (81: James McFadden), Scot Gemmill (65: Scott Severin), Paul Devlin

SCOTLAND vs. Italy 17/11/05:

Craig Gordon - David Weir, Gary Andrew Naysmith, Stephen McManus, Alan Hutton, Paul Hartley, Scott Brown (74: Kenny Miller), Darren Fletcher, Lee McCulloch (91: Kris Boyd), Barry Ferguson, James McFadden

Unused Substitutes: Allan McGregor, Graham Alexander, Gary Caldwell, Stephen Pearson, Barry Robson

I probably have a tape or DVD transfer of the game somewhere,

as well as a copy of the Inside Soccer magazine that featured

the game.

Yes, Berti Vogts (a good friend of Holger) was the manager

for the Tartan Army. And yes Paul Fenwick was partially responsible

for the last two Scottish goals, but as I can recall he and McKenna

didn't communicate well. I was surprised McKenna was at back

rather than the usual Holger-favourite striker.

Thanks for the info! I realize that Vogts may have been trying some different players and I can't remember if Weir was not in favoured by the manager at that time or if Ferguson was rested or even healthy. Still, it's interesting to see the turnover.
