CanadasBest
Given that we have no more games again this year, maybe we should start a vote for Voyageurs Men's and Women's player of the year? My vote: Julian deGuzman Christine Sinclair

jonovision
Are we to focus on club accomplishments, or their performance with the national team in the last year (I am thinking moreso about the men's side here, I don't know too much about how our women are doing with their college teams or the Whitecaps). If national team performances are the only measuring stick, then I lean towards Julian de Guzman. But if club performances are factored in, it is hard to argue against DDR. Bertuzzi44
MEN-> Julian DeGuzman - our maestro in the midfield. Set up DeRo's goal in our friendly against Costa Rica. Scored two goals in the CONCACAF Championships, where he was the tournament MVP. WOMEN-> Didn't get to watch much of the women this year. Heard Lang played well though. Sinclair maybe? BearcatSA
Christine Sinclair Kevin Harmse, because it's a tough job being Dave Semenko to Beckham's Gretzky with the Galaxitives! But seriously, Gold Cup MVP DeGuzman just beats out MLS Cup MVP DeRosairo.

Vic
JDG - Men - awesome year. Charmaine Hooper, Sharolta Nonen and Christine Latham - Women - they suffered more for our Women's team this year than anyone. Three players who were half the rock-solid backline of our 2003 World Cup semi-final team, and also scored 5 of the 7 goals in the three games we won. Geez, I wonder what was missing this year? Booted by Pellerud and labelled traitors for asking to be treated like professionals. Had he tried it on the Men's team, we would have no players. Scottie
quote:Originally posted by frank Rob Friend for his 9 goals for Borussia Mönchengladbach That doesn't make any sense. Not only did Friend do absolutely nothing for the nats this year, other than get named to several V's starting 11s, but if you want to go by club achievements then DeRo owns him. And again, he did NOTHING internationally this year unless you think a disallowed goal in a friendly and missing your country's two most important games for your wedding (which for some unknown reason was scheduled during the knockout stage of a major tournament - low expectations?) warrants player of the year.
