redhat
Good find. But Jurgen Klinsmann? Could the CSA have afforded him? And the comment about Pipe? Some surprising opinions for sure ...
CanadasBest
That Klinsmann bit wasn't too clear. Is it that Klinsmann has some sort of consulting firm or something like that? I don't think he meant Klinsmann to come in himself. The Pipe comment was a bit out of place. On one hand they're lambasting the CSA for their poor performance over 20 years but then questioning the dismissal of one of the guys that had been there the longest. I don't get that comment either. Still, I'm very happy to see this brought up again.
loyola
Maybe Pipe was blocked a few times by the Board?
Gordon
Well, I think the whole Fiasco with Simoes, Nykamp and Linford pretty much demonstrated a board structure that not even in my wildest rants could I have imagined.
Richard
There is no question Pipe was overruled on occasion by the Board. The governance structure of the organisation did not give Pipe much authority and distributed executive power amongst various executive and board positions which brought parochial interests into the mix. Nothing has changed, indeed the CSA Board has consciously refused to make any changes despite recommendations from Deloitte and Touche that cost them $100,000. Grizzly
Other than the obvious statement that the CSA is poorly run, mostly everything else they say is crap.

Jurgen Klinsmann is vice-president of a sports marketing consultancy called SoccerSolutions in California. From their web site: SoccerSolutions is a sports marketing and business development company that is committed to helping its clients be successful through soccer related activities. Our company services include consultancy, research, project management, event management, representation, negotiation, advocacy and networking on behalf of our clients. He used training methods and U.S. advisors (I think they were fitness consultants) with the German national team as well. I'm assuming this is what Twamley was thinking. cheers, matthew
