SthMelbRed
Apparently, Newcastle are in a bad way with their senior central defenders opening up the possibility that our boy could start against Liverpool on Saturday. It may be traumatic for him, though, as Torres is well-rested and fit after Spain left him out of their squad for this week's internationals. http://www.liverpoolfc.tv/mediawatch/drilldown/MW12095071121-1718.htm
Gian-Luca
I hadn't realized until I read that article that Edgar had already made one first-team appearance this season.

SthMelbRed
Well, if he does play on Saturday, it's a live TV match, early kickoff, so everyone should be able to watch and see how he does.
Bill Spiers
quote:Originally posted by Gian-Luca I hadn't realized until I read that article that Edgar had already made one first-team appearance this season. ESPN stats for Newcastle don't show any appearances for Edgar this season.

Desigol
Edgar scored in that one appearance; against Manure.
KAS
quote:Originally posted by Desigol Edgar scored in that one appearance; against Manure. They were talking about this year, not last year. Edgar made more than one appearance for Newcastle last year. Like with any developing players his age, his club need to either play him or loan him out. Nobody wants to see him rot on the bench. nolando
Good enough for a defender-thin Newcastle to play against Liverpool, but not good enough for a defender-thin Canada to play against South Africa?!?
VPjr
no sign of Edgar in the starting 11 in this stinker...I wonder what happened.

SthMelbRed
Good that he didn't get in to the game yesterday. Newcastle were woeful to a man. Being subjected to such a comprehensive beating like that could have had catastrophic consequences for young Mr. Edgar's development.
