An Observer
Uefa style - clean and simple, and pretty fair in my mind. If someone in the CSL scores more than twice as many goals as an MLS player, he should win.
Guest Soccrman
Just found this thread!! Good idea. Not sure though I would lump AMSL in with CIS/CIAU - its better than that and can claim to be better than PDL, as can VMSL which I don't see listed. Do you count playiff goals/Challenge Cup goals?? I know Felix Napuri, Callies, scored 12(?)in AMSL and 1 or 2 in Halifax. Would they count for more? Where do you get the info for scorers?? Guest Jeffery S.
I favour UEFA style too. We are not voting the best striker on a Canadian team, as if that is what we wanted we would just ignore lower divisions and saying anyone just playing and scoring at a higher level is better. And I don't think that is the idea. So I have no problem with giving the shoe to someone in lower divisions who was hot this year, even in a weak context. Gordon
I too favour the UEFA style. I am not sure if the intention of your proposal was to eliminate all but a few provincial leagues or if it was to save space. Jeffrey pretty much sums up my reasons. Saviola7
It seems that at least for the winner the debate is simply whether Lesage and Pop have to share the award with Dichio or not. Since only one scoring scheme (and a particular top-heavy one at that) includes Dichio, I vote UEFA-style. If Dichio hadn't been injured for a good chunk of the season, there would be more debate. Guest Jeffery S.
TFC did not score this year. 6 in a season is damn little. Let Toronto score a bit more and then we could even say one of their strikers deserves to be distinguished. I don't think that has been the case this season. Cheeta
Hmmmm. WAS going to go write I'm comfortable with the as-is formula but not so sure now. Pretty good points being put forward for the less dramatic spread of the UEFA formula. Nope. AS IS seems most appropriate by me. I'm voting AS IS. "League" quality holds significant merit from my point of view and should be suitably reflected in the points system.
Daniel
If we're using UEFA-style, might as well drop the lowest tier, as at .5 per goal, pretty much no one is going to break the top 10...
rdf
Do players get points for goals on multiple teams? For example, Provincial Senior league team (summer) + CIS (Fall)? If so, it's likely that players in lower tier leagues can get on the list, even at onl5 .5 pts/goal.
River City
The tally so far is UEFA - 4 votes AS IS - 1 Vote Soccrman, I'm planning on doing a separate vote on the lower leagues soon. I only count regular season goals as UEFA does not count league cup or European goals. Info is on each league's website which I scour on a regular basis. Gordon/Daniel, I personally would like to keep the lower leagues even if I don't actually follow any of them. Some V's have sent me links to their top scorers so once we figure everything out, I will include what is available. rdf, just like in UEFA, players can get points for multiple leagues. redhat
I'm voting for "UEFA format" as well. Seems more fair, and simpler.

River City
The vote is 10 for the UEFA style, 2 for the As is system (Cheeta and me), and no votes for reduced MLS. Thank you for all those that voted. 2008 season is now upon us!
