England playing 3 at the back? Everyone would lynch him as soon as they let in one goal. That's a very short attacking line, sure you don't want Crouchie boy in Owen's place maybe move Owen over and keep SWP or Lennon on the bench until they're not mediocre? Do Gerrard and Rooney have free roles in this formation? Interesting moves Hiddink...interesting moves...

I think that anyone with the thought of lynching Hiddink is getting lynched himself :D

Hiddink always looks to put players in their best positions and this is almost it (Lennon is better on the right though).

Why would you need 2 full-backs ? Nearly every team plays 4-4-2 so you can immediately can create a man more situation in defence.

Having SWP and Lennon in the line-up is not only good attacking wise but also defensively. Most of the oppositions attacks start at full-back so when you put two out high up on the wings limits the attacking freedom of the full-back , and sort of dictates the centre-backs to move the ball which is a weakness in European Football.

If the full-back does decide to go forward he is either man-marked or he leaves a whole lotta space for speed canons SWP or Lennon.

But also in attacking sense the pace of the front 3 is very helpful. I didnt put Crouch in because Lennon and SWP dont cross the ball well in the air. They are good crossers on the ground though and Owen is a deadlier finisher than Crouch and quicker and better with 2 feet.

It might be new to England to play with a small front 3 because they then have to play proper football instead of booting the ball up the field but Hiddink can get that into their system.

And Gerrard and Rooney with their attacking qualities can do that. They can have a lot of freedom because Carrick and Barry (Also good on the ball) cover them. Just a case of when they lose the ball they have to sit back more to create a 4 line midfield.

Hiddink is a smart man...Do not underestimate..;)

Any manager who leaves out Rooney shouldn't be coaching a pub-team much less England.

Rooney is starting to become a Prima Donna. He feels he sould get an England place as of right, even though Owen has a more proven track record against European Opposition.

I wouldn't dream of underestimating him after seeing what Korea and Australia became after he left. I'd love to see what Hiddink would do with England but would he even want the job? What a frustrating team, who'd want to manage that?

There are few teams more frustrating than Russia so if he was willing to coach Russia he will be willing to coach England. If England puts up the type of money he wants and gives him the control he wants he wouldn't be afraid to take on the England job.
