VPjr
Your missing 1 important player..... Mr. Jonathan DeGuzman Until he choose the Dutch, he should be considered part of our pool.

Trillium
quote:Originally posted by canadiankick97 Once we qualify I think. Can we really see Lombardo being named ? He was in my opinion horrible with the u20 group and i have seen nothing with TFC to make feel he is doing what he needs to to improve his strength and fitness...i doubt he can be effective in an Olypic tournament... Gian-Luca
Given that a third of the other strikers listed haven't even committed to playing for Canada and the others are all at a lower level of play, I'd be very surprised if Lombardo wasn't involved with the Olympic team. Granted, I think it's our weakest position in this age group. Though Andrew Ornoch, listed as a defender by Champs, played striker for Canada's senior team against Hungary one year ago, so I think he is listed in the wrong category. Grizzly
I would add Toisant Ricketts to the striker list. Like the other strikers he didn't score in the U-20 but did pretty good in some of the pre-tournament games and seems to have more potential than Lombardo. Do we not have a few strikers playing in US college programs as well who are scoring?

Alex Elliott (Portland) 4 goals Daniel Revivo (Winthrop) 8 goals Dylan Sheehan (Brown) 7 goals Not to mention midfielders Dejan Jakovic and Carlo Schiavoni of UAB and Kerr McLeod of Fairfield, along with goalkeeper Robert Cavicchia of Syracuse. Other outsiders may be forward Angus Burke of Towson and Haris Cekic of Furman. The latter represented Bosnia as a U17 but may still be eligible for Canada. He's off to a great start with Furman (the school the produced Clint Dempsey of the US).

The regional qualifying has to finish yet for other areas of CONCACAF before they set the dates and venue forthe final round. Probably in early 2008. From today´s Wikipedia... -------------------------- [edit] CONCACAF (North, Central America and Caribbean) Eight teams will participate in the final round of qualifying for two spots in the Olympics. Canada, Mexico, and the United States have qualified for this round already. From Central America, three teams will be chosen, and from the Caribbean, two other teams will participate in the final round. [edit] Central America Two groups of teams will play round-robin contests in November 2007, and the top team from each group qualifies to final round. In addition, the two second place teams will play a home and away series where the winner advances to the final round. Group A will play from November 7 to November 11, 2007 in Panama. While Group B will play from November 14 to November 18, 2007 in Guatemala.[3] [edit] Group A Team Pts Pld W D L GF GA GD El Salvador 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 Honduras 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 Panama 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 November 7, 2007 Panama – El Salvador November 9, 2007 El Salvador – Honduras November 11, 2007 Panama – Honduras [edit] Group B Team Pts Pld W D L GF GA GD Costa Rica 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 Guatemala 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 Nicaragua 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 November 14, 2007 Guatemala – Nicaragua November 16, 2007 Nicaragua – Costa Rica November 18, 2007 Guatemala – Costa Rica [edit] Caribbean [edit] Round 1 [edit] Group A - Paramaribo, Suriname Team Pts Pld W D L GF GA GD Trinidad and Tobago 7 3 2 1 0 7 0 +7 Suriname 4 3 1 1 1 2 2 0 Guyana 4 3 1 1 1 4 7 #8722;3 Netherlands Antilles 1 3 0 1 2 2 6 #8722;4 August 31, 2007 Trinidad and Tobago 4–0 Guyana Suriname 1–0 Netherlands Antilles September 2, 2007 Netherlands Antilles 0–3 Trinidad and Tobago Suriname 1–2 Guyana September 4, 2007 Guyana 2–2 Netherlands Antilles Suriname 0–0 Trinidad and Tobago [edit] Group B - Oranjestad, Aruba Team Pts Pld W D L GF GA GD Jamaica 9 3 3 0 0 12 1 +11 Antigua and Barbuda 6 3 2 0 1 5 7 #8722;2 Barbados 3 3 1 0 2 5 4 +1 Aruba 0 3 0 0 3 1 11 #8722;10 September 9, 2007 Antigua and Barbuda 1–6 Jamaica Aruba 1–4 Barbados September 11, 2007 Jamaica 1–0 Barbados Aruba 0–2 Antigua and Barbuda September 13, 2007 Barbados 1–2 Antigua and Barbuda Aruba 0–5 Jamaica [edit] Group C - La Habana, Cuba Team Pts Pld W D L GF GA GD Cuba 9 3 3 0 0 20 0 +20 Puerto Rico 6 3 2 0 1 6 9 #8722;3 Bermuda 1 3 0 1 2 0 8 #8722;8 Cayman Islands 1 3 0 1 2 1 10 #8722;9 September 9, 2007 Puerto Rico 4–1 Cayman Islands Cuba 6–0 Bermuda September 11, 2007 Cayman Islands 0–0 Bermuda Cuba 8–0 Puerto Rico September 13, 2007 Bermuda 0–2 Puerto Rico Cuba 6–0 Cayman Islands [edit] Group D - Basseterre, St. Kitts and Nevis Team Pts Pld W D L GF GA GD Haiti 4 2 1 1 0 1 0 +1 Dominican Republic 2 2 0 2 0 1 1 0 Saint Kitts and Nevis 1 2 0 1 1 1 2 #8722;1 September 9, 2007 Saint Kitts and Nevis 1–1 Dominican Republic September 11, 2007 Haiti 0–0 Dominican Republic September 13, 2007 Saint Kitts and Nevis 0–1 Haiti [edit] Group E - Kingstown, St. Vincent and the Grenadines Team Pts Pld W D L GF GA GD Grenada 5 3 1 2 0 9 6 +3 Saint Vincent and the Grenadines 5 3 1 2 0 7 4 +3 Dominica 3 3 1 0 2 3 8 #8722;5 Saint Lucia 2 3 0 2 1 4 5 #8722;1 September 9, 2007 Saint Lucia 3–3 Grenada Saint Vincent and the Grenadines 4–1 Dominica September 11, 2007 Grenada 3–0 Dominica Saint Vincent and the Grenadines 0–0 Saint Lucia September 13, 2007 Dominica 2–1 Saint Lucia Saint Vincent and the Grenadines 3–3 Grenada [edit] Group F - Nassau, Bahamas Team Pts Pld W D L GF GA GD Bahamas 3 1 1 0 0 6 1 +5 U.S. Virgin Islands 0 1 0 0 1 1 6 #8722;5 British Virgin Islands - - - - - - - - September 2, 2007 Bahamas 6–1 U.S. Virgin Islands The British Virgin Islands withdrew at the last minute, leaving the Bahamas as the group champion. loyola
I guess that Canada, USA and Mexico aren't interested in hosting the event and that CONCACAF is waiting to ask one of the remaining 5 teams.

Yes, or some of the potential but yet to be determined participants have been unofficially promised the tournament by Jack (Payoff) Warner. Yeah, and Lensky is not a forward - he's a LM or LB - and has not chosen to play for Canada yet. As well, i believe that Dylan Hughes is permanently cap-tied to Wales. I'd add Isidro Sanchez to the list of strikers. He's an '87 playing for Puebla in the Mexican 1st Div.

I would pick any of the university guys over a guy that couldn't cut it in the German 3rd division or Dutch 2nd division.
