SCF08
Kyle Bekker from Oakville Ontario will sign a contract at ajax starting on January 1. He is a 17 year old midfielder who impressed twice on trial. Sonny Silooy (U19 Manager) said that his reading of the game and technique is excellent and also likes the guts from the lad to dictate the play from day 1 and show leadership... Kyle will start in the A1 team which is U19s. Shame he has to sign for that garbage club...[}]

Ivan
Interesting. I'd have to check my notes but I am pretty sure he was in our U17 player pool but did not make the final cut for U17WC qualifying. Also interesting that he steps into the A1 team while Matt Lam, who is been there a while now, remains on the A2 team.
loyola
He was part of the New Zealand serie in 2005. He's an 1990. Here's an article about him and another canadian player (born in 1995) who impressed Ajax coaches. http://www.sigma-sports.net/newsEvents/sigmaTrains.html

He hasnt really shown any improvements and can probably look out for another club. Mostly these type of players that dont make the cut can probably find a place somewhere in the Dutch First Division. SCF08
More news from possible Canadians coming to Holland. Vitesse have taken Octavio Maginnis Castro on a week's trial. Maginnis is currently a player at Peterbrough United and before that he was contracted at Atlas in Mexico. He is 17 years old and a central defender / defensive midfielder. Maybe he can make an impression. Vitesse do take quite a few players on trial every year and sign a couple so maybe he can be one of them. He'll be on trial with the Vitesse Reserves squad. SCF08
Octavio Maginnis Castro has impressed during his trial at Vitesse and they are going to try and sign him during the January transfer window...Vitesse also had 2 Chinese players on trial and they were dismissed and dubbed not good enough. Vitesse ziet Canadese jeugdspeler wel zitten 08 dec 2007, 03:00 - ARNHEM - Vitesse heeft interesse in de 17-jarige Canadees Octavio Maginnis. SCF08
quote: http://www.voetbalprimeur.nl/index.php?t=news&id=64196&c=1 sounds like octavio maginnis is going to sign with vitesse after the winter break It hasnt happened so far and it mostly depends on whether he holds an EU passport. The technical director of Vitesse was on TV just before 2008 and said that Vitesse couldnt really sign any Non-EU player because of the financial situation. Non-Eu players (18 or over) have to earn at least 325.000 Euro's per year by law. That's a lot of money considering the fact that the real top players in Holland earn about 1,2/1,5 million. Top players of mid-table teams like Vitesse must earn something about that 325.000 figure so they will only sign him if they think he's special or if he holds an EU passport.
