rick10
I'm not really a toronto fc follower , however I remember the TF had open try outs last year to choose a single player from out of 1000 ( or so) that register for the try outs. They choose one guy from toronto. What happened to that guy? Did he play this season?.
VPjr
I think he's back at York U. It was mostly a marketing gimmick, although they did identify some players who might end up being part of their academy in the future.

Assistant coach Bob Gansler spent a lot of time with him working on foot skills at the practices. I'm not sure if he was also in Florida for the training camp. MM2
Desmond Humphrey, Jason De Thomasis, Frank Bruno and Ryan Fante who also attended the open tryous have all played for Toronto FC Reserves. I think that Niki Budalic and Cameron Medwin were also there and have also played with the reserves. While none have played with the senior team. That is at least 5 from the tryouts who received a further look by TFC.

jpg75
Guzman was also trialing with the Chicago Fire back in the spring. He played 2006 with the Fire PDL team...
Guest speedmonk42
It would be interesting to try and 'stack' the open tryout as an experiment. Just to see if one or two guys got noticed.

I read somewhere in the news that he was not good enough to be offer a contract down there.
Rocket Robin
Jamaal Smith plays for Canadian Lions of the Canadian Soccer League (CSL). His 16 year old brother Jelani Smith also plays for that team.

I don't know much about his stint in Peru, but i think he played his junior year of college in the fall of 2006 (after playing PDL for the summer - it's a short season). So maybe he went to Peru after the college season last winter and then didn't make it and came back in the spring to Toronto via Chicago?
rick titus
Jeremy Shepard broke his foot in 2006 with us on the Lynx, and he is now getting back into shape. He had a rough time but he is back training and playing again. Good young player, he was with Hertha Berlin for a while, and is god at striking with both feet. Good kid! rick10
if I am not mistaken all these players were at some point a great prospect for the future. Garcia , mathew oconnor , were the best young midfielders in ontario 6 years ago ( a their age group) Too bad they ended up playing for amatuer leagues
