Moosehead
They say they can't afford the Men's National team to play a full set of pre World Cup Qualifying Games then sell their house in Ottawa and lease some cheap office space near the BMO field. The money from the sale of the house should go to the Men's National Team. The CSA shouldn't be in the property business.
Soju
Can anyone post a pic of this house? I wonder if it's equipped with a bar where the old boys can talk about the old world and sneak off for pints instead of actually doing their ******* jobs
Moosehead
It would be interested to see what the market value of the house is and if there are any mortgages registered against the title to the property.
Moosehead
I did a google map of the address of the CSA head office and there appears that the property has a large swimming pool out back. 237 Metcalfe Street Ottawa, ON K2P 1R2
Massive Attack
Apparently there are offices waiting for the CSA staff at BMO Field. Selling this property is a non-brainer for the cash strapped CSA. Which means they probably won't sell it.
Alex M
The house doesn't have a pool. It's essentially a medium-sized house with plenty of parking. Alex

El Hombre
It does not have a pool, however it is a pretty big "house" that would go for a good chunk of change due to it's location and lot size. They also had quite a bit of landscaping done on it last summer.
brandon
I'd be very surprised if the CSA actually "owned" the place. It is more likely owned by the Federal government and simply used by the CSA as a base of operations to carry out their day to day incompetent boobery (thank you Mr. Burns)
Guest Ed
It is owned by the CSA. One of Pipe's major accomplishments!
River City
Actually I don't think it's a bad idea that the national association owns the property they use as office space. I'm more concerned with who actually gets to use it.

Moosehead
It doesn't make sense for the CSA to own non soccer related real estate. Many multi national companies don't even own their own buildings as it makes more sense to Lease. Why have all this productive capital tied up in a heritage house? If there is 1 million in equity in the house this can be used for the Men's National Team in terms of arranging more friendlies and paying for business class tickets. This little things will add to give us a better chance of qualifying. Its worth using this capital because if we qualify we will obtain millions in extra sponsorship and from Fifa. River City
If they sell the house and pour the money into the Men's team and they fail to qualify, not only are they out of the World Cup but they're also out of their permanent home. In the long run, is it cheaper to lease space or own? I was raised to believe ownership is the way to go.

Moosehead
So when do they sell the house then. They are in business to run the national team, they are not a real estate development company. Having all that capital tied up in a house is a big waste that can be used for the National team to qualify. If Canada qualifies it will be a much better investment than tieing up capital in a house. I don't see why they need that much office space if they don't have a president or technical director. They should easily be able to rent office space for about 4,000 a month in some older building on the edge of Toronto that woudl suit their needs. valenciafc
I am sure that part of the deal with BMO being the "NAtional Soccer Stadium" is some sort of arrangement for office space. Of course though this would mean they would have to be based out of Toronto .... fat chance they move out this way so odds are they would just expense the hell out of travel to and from Ottawa. The Ref
It should be sold furniture and staffing included. Is the landscaping upgrade fieldturf?
Trillium
The CSA needed a presence in Ottawa .. a number of years ago when the National Sport Centre concept was ended by the Federal government ..that was when we put all the sport bodies in one office complex to have a Synergy of ideas and movement of Sport adminstrators from sport to sport. So the CSA borrowed money from the provinces and bought the building ..it produced revenue by renting the the local soccer association and the local mens leagues..essentially paid enough rent to cover the mortgage fees. The building is nice victorian ..large with lovely board room. It is a neede presence for a National Sport near the funding bodies of the Federal Government moving the heads and adminstrators to TO would be error ...in my opinion, just as not declaring Lansdowne as the National Womens Stadium is an error. But hey... were replacing the CSA ...are we not ?
Moosehead
Who cares if it is a nice building and has a large boardroom. The CSA has not received any more money than ski canada which has its head office in Calgary. In fact, the CSA doesn't receive that much money from the government. I am sure the brick house is not doing any good in getting more money from Ottawa. The house is worth a lot of money and should be sold and the profits used to ensure our men's team qualify for the World Cup. Then the real money will start to come in.
