Awright... I'll play.

Y'awl might wanna send out a reminder, and I recommend (like the first year) have the deadline be before the kickoff on matchday 2, which will give people who remmeber late a chance to get in and give the strategy nerds a chance to geek out.

Just a thought.....

and... Didn't a recount make Daniel the winner of the first go?

PS... Beachey! You're a .... well you know.

Watched Barca beat Stuggart yesterday. They have powerful indivdual performances but they are still not firing as a team. They had dreadful defensive lapses that would have proved fatal against a more effective club.

Who would have thought that Rangers would have proved so strong at this point? Four points from the remaining four group matches should see them advance. Everbody here picked Lyon and Barcelona to advance, I thought it was the easiest group to predict.

Quick question on the format for the knockout round:

We pick the winner of the two-legs and recieve 2 points, but what is the other point for? Similar for other rounds too.

"Round 1: (Max 32 points) 1 point for correct result, 2 points for aggregate winner. Open when fixtures announced."

Because you only seem to pick the winners over the two legs.

Thanks

Yes, RJB, you are correct, each leg of each knockout round should be predicted, as well as the aggregate winner (just the result, win lose or draw for each leg, and THEN which wins the aggregate). Therefore SCF08 and River City should repick to pick the result of each individual leg game as well. Also, do not forget you can risk picking the ultimate cup winner now for higher points, or wait until later rounds. The picks have to be made before Round 1 on February 19.

For example, for each two leg match the prediction should be posted something like this:

Celtic FC (SCO) v FC Barcelona (ESP)

(draw) , (win for Barca), Barca on aggregate

The idea of the higher points for the later rounds was to increase excitement and unpredictablilty of ultimate result.

Whhat DOES have to be clarified is what is a result for the second leg, and I ask River City to tell us what his decision is. Is a "draw" when it is tied after regulation time or after extra time? I suggest that a draw be the result after regulaltion time for the second match, regardless of the aggregate score at that point, to increase the value of predicting a draw.

Here is the schedule for the first knockout round:

Tuesday, 19 February 2008

Liverpool v Inter Milan, R1, L1, 19:45

Olympiakos v Chelsea, R1, L1, 19:45
