OTTAWA (ONTARIO) - Tickets to Canada’s international friendly with Costa Rica at BMO field go on sale this coming Monday 13 August. The Canadian men’s national team will face Costa Rica on 12 September (19.00) at BMO Field in Toronto. The match, presented by Sony, will be the second match-up between these two CONCACAF rivals this year.

Single tickets for the match range from $15-$100 and can be purchased at www.ticketmaster.ca. For special ticket offers for groups of 15 or more please call the Ticketmaster Sportsline at (416)872-5000.

“It is important for the national team to get accustomed to playing games at home and in front of Canadian support, in order to prepare ourselves for World Cup qualifying in 2008,” says Canadian head coach Dale Mitchell. “Costa Rica has been a regular participant in recent World Cups and will provide our team with a real test.”

Canada last faced Costa Rica during the 2007 CONCACAF Gold Cup. The Canadian team pulled off a 2:1 win over Costa Rica in the opening match of the group stage. Tournament MVP Julian de Guzman scored both Canadian goals in the come-from-behind victory.

The Costa Rica game will be Dale Mitchell’s first match on Canadian soil as the men’s national team head coach. It will also be Canada’s first senior men’s match in Toronto since 2000.

Peru hold Costa Rica on Del Solar's debut

SAN JOSE, Aug 22 (Reuters) - Peru held Costa Rica to a 1-1 draw away from home in their first game under new coach Jose del Solar on Wednesday.

Del Solar, a former international midfielder, became Peru's fourth coach in less then three years when he replaced Julio Cesar Uribe, who was fired following the Copa America in July after only four months in charge.

Forward Oscar Rojas put Costa Rica ahead in the eighth minute with a half-volley from a chance created by Ronald Gomez.

Roy Myrie was close with a header for Costa Rica just before halftime while Martin Hidalgo fired just wide for Peru with a long-range shot.

Peru midfielder Pedro Garcia levelled with a right-foot shot from the edge of the area in the 58th minute.

The visitors nearly snatched a winner when defender Ernesto Arakaki headed against the crossbar shortly afterwards.
