Winnipeg Fury
Peru hold Costa Rica on Del Solar's debut SAN JOSE, Aug 22 (Reuters) - Peru held Costa Rica to a 1-1 draw away from home in their first game under new coach Jose del Solar on Wednesday. Del Solar, a former international midfielder, became Peru's fourth coach in less then three years when he replaced Julio Cesar Uribe, who was fired following the Copa America in July after only four months in charge. Forward Oscar Rojas put Costa Rica ahead in the eighth minute with a half-volley from a chance created by Ronald Gomez. Roy Myrie was close with a header for Costa Rica just before halftime while Martin Hidalgo fired just wide for Peru with a long-range shot. Peru midfielder Pedro Garcia levelled with a right-foot shot from the edge of the area in the 58th minute. The visitors nearly snatched a winner when defender Ernesto Arakaki headed against the crossbar shortly afterwards.
