RJB
http://www.tsn.ca/soccer/feature/?fid=11161 TSN, in their EPL Preview, has listed David Edgar in first eleven for Newcastle United. Are these expectations too high for him, or is this something that is realistic?
rick10
it is pretty obvoius that TSN being canadian is putting edgar as a starter furthermore it makes it more obvious if you look at the star to watch david edgar is listed as the main star to watch. Edgar is a great prospect though here is the line up for their last game against sampdoria which they won Newcastle United: Shay Given, Stephen Carr, Charles N'Zogbia, David Rozehnal, Steven Taylor, Nolberto Solano, James Milner, Geremi, Nicky Butt, Alan Smith, Mark Viduka. which most likely will be the main lineup . I m sure edgar will be giving a chance this year to be part of the
mcaout
Ya, he's unlikely to be in the front running for a defensive spot unless there are lots of injuries again this year. Two other young players, Huntington and Taylor (you may recall for Eng in Euro U21s) are a head of him in the pecking order. In theory he could play on the outside again however with Geremi and Enrique being brought in there is more cover at fullback. On the other hand, the only ways he'll avoid the first team all season are if he's injured, if backline starters stay healthy/are in great form, or if the team doesn't play many games no europe this year, and no cup runs. hotdoglegz
It was neat to see on TV today a traveling supporter at the Bolton - Newcastle game wearing a number 30 shirt with Edgar's name on the back on the back.
CanadianSwede
I think that Cacapa will be getting a start soon. I have seen Cacapa play before and he is a well established defender, even though he is relatively unknown. I doubt Edgar will be starting much for Newcastle with Big Sam coaching. Cheers
