loyola
Again, CSA communication guy, Richard Scott, with an incompetent release without the names of the selected players..... Men’s U-16 Team Tuesday, July 31, 2007 Canadian U-16 boys to play and train in Saskatoon Canada’s men’s U-16 team has grouped in Saskatoon for a one-week camp under coach Sean Fleming. The camp runs 30 July to 6 August at the Sasktel Soccer Centre. The camp is a joint venture between the Canadian Soccer Association, Saskatchewan Soccer Association, and Saskatoon Youth Soccer, Inc. "It's always exciting when we can have a Canadian national team visit Saskatchewan," says Jeannette Kuc, president of the Saskatchewan Soccer Association. "What makes this even greater is the opportunity for our grassroots players to meet and practise with them. All levels of play in soccer are important; seeing them come together like this is inspiring and rewarding." Along with their training, Canada's U-16 team will compete in a pair of exhibition matches against a men's all-star team, Huskie United FC. The matches are 4 August (17.30) and 5 August (18.00). The Canadian junior team will also host “Kid’s Soccer in the Park”, a drop-in soccer camp for all interested youth and mini-soccer players. The park dates are 31 July (College Park and Silverwood Heights), 1 August (Westmount and Pleasant Hill) and 2 August (Confederation Park and Warman) from 13.00-14.00. The camps encourage kids to drop by and take part in drills with the national junior-team players. “It is great for the Grassroots and the national teams to work together to promote the great sport of soccer,” says Fleming. “It is important for national-team players to be exposed to young players as they may be able to plant some dreams for these players”. The Canadian U-16 camp features players born in 1991 or later. These players will be eligible for the next two FIFA U-20 World Cups (2009 and 2011), albeit most would likely challenge for a position on the 2011 team. Players born in 1992 would also be eligible for the FIFA U-17 World Cup 2009.
Gordon
I just happened to be driving by the Centre yesterday morning and saw a team out there that gave me pause to wonder who they were.
Gordon
I attended the game today between Cananada U-16 and Huskies Athletic (SPSL). Huskies won 2-1. Decent quality across the canadian team, but not a lot of standouts. I have no nakes, will try to find out some tomorrow, but #7 A Central Midfielder and #10, a forward did show some nice skills and a bit of creativity. Canada created more, played on the ground alot, but mixed in some long ball as well (not a criticism, long ball in moderation isn't a bad thing). Huskies used their strength advantage and mostly countered.

tobasoccerforlife
Hey everyone. I'll give you some insight to who was picked for the training camp and from where. All of the players selected for the Men's U-16 training camp participated in this years U-16 Nationals competition. I only know the name of one player who was on my team who got selected. This player is Amus, I forget his last name. He kept in contact with our team during the training camp and he told us he scored two goals in the games he played. He is a black male, somewhat short, but very fast. I know that around 10 players were selected from the U-16 provincial team, at least 4 were Selected from the U-16 Alberta provincial team and I believe some of the defenders from British Columbia U-16 team were selected. If you are wondering how I know this, I participated in the 2007 Nationals Competition, played on the team of one of the players selected and alot of the players talked. I wish I could tell you their names, but I don't know all of them. I am just curious, can anyone give me more insight into what kind of team it was they played? Where were the players from? Are these players professionals? I am just curious because one of my teamates was involved and want more info.
