CanadianSwede
I was just wondering whether or not there were future plans to integrate Toronto FC into the Voyageurs Cup since it's basically our FA Cup? Would TFC agree to this? Is this possible? Cheers
Cheeta
To answer in order. None. No. And maybe. I suppose it's possible that the USL clubs and TFC could at some point put together a little tourny but I just don't see it happening any time soon. Not in TFCs immediate interest. Guessing the Vs Cup will continue to piggy-back on the Div 1 schedule for now.
rdroze
Sorry for bumping an old thread, but I'm wondering if not enough people saw this in the Voyageurs forum: http://www.canadian-soccer.com/forum/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=14031 TFC is interested! CanadianSwede
I knew there was reason to hope! CONCACAF is introducing the format for the CONCACAF Champions League this Monday at 11 am according to their site. It starts in August. Maybe a Canadian team will get automatic qualification...who knows. http://www.concacaf.com/view_article.asp?id=4081 Cheers.
Richard
The Whitecaps apparently are expecting that the CONCACAF Champions League format to be introduced Monday will bring the Whitecaps, Toronto FC, and Montreal Impact into the mix.
CanadianSwede
My hope is that the Voyageurs Cup will become our FA Cup and the winner will get an automatic birth into the group stages of such a competition.

Richard
If it ever becomes a true Open Canada Cup supported by everybody then a trophy will be needed, why not the Voyageur Cup indeed?

Trident
quote:Originally posted by Richard If it ever becomes a true Open Canada Cup supported by everybody then a trophy will be needed, why not the Voyageur Cup indeed? It might sour some of those new TOFC fans if they win it: Thinking they were the first team to win and seeing Montreal's name plastered all over it. Oldtimer
A Canadian team will be in the CONCACAF Champions League. (1 spot) Just a comment, it might be worth asking that the history of the Cup be preserved, should you guys decide to donate it. i.e. this is the seventh awarding of the Voyageurs Cup, not the first. They haven't reread what I wrote. If it ever becomes the Open Cup(TOFC would play in it), if they win the first "open" year, they would be shocked to see all the old Montreal wins on it. Cashcleaner
^ I know what you wrote, but I'm just curious as to why a team would care who won the competition before they even competed in it? Of course we know the trophy has been around longer than the team, I doubt anyone would be shocked.

Mpenza
****, where the heck are they? We could use a dozen of bandwagon hipsters. Or even half a dozen for that matter.
CanadianSwede
I have always been under the impression that bandwagoning was for big football clubs like Man U etc. and of course for hockey teams.
