Lillestrom knocked out of UEFA qualifying by a team from Lichtenstein think it is, Kaerjeng, who were only Cup runners up.

Just fell 1-0 there after the 2-1 first leg. Not sure if Occean played.

Atrocious result for them in all respects.

It's a team from Luxembourg.

Agree, atrocious result for the club.

TFC to net Wagenaar?

Sources: Johnston eyes goalie

By DEAN McNULTY -- Sun Media

The search for a starting goalkeeper with first division European experience apparently is over for Toronto FC manager Mo Johnston.

Several sources have told Sun Media that the 'keeper Johnston is after is likely 22-year-old Josh Wagenaar of Grimsby, who has played the past two seasons for ADO den Haag in the Dutch league.

Johnston was huddled with his players yesterday at BMO Field pouring over game film from the team's horrible 3-0 loss to Chicago Fire on Sunday and unavailable.

But he told the media after that game that he was in contact with a 'keeper who was playing in Europe and who would be able to be signed by TFC without stepping over Major League Soccer rules about adding international players to team rosters.

"We are in discussions," he said. "And we expect to make an announcement (today) or Wednesday."

Because Wagenaar is both a Canadian and under-25, Johnston could add him to his starting roster without having to lose one of his four senior international players.

The need for a starting goalkeeper became No. 1 on Johnston's list of priorities when Greg Sutton developed signs of post-concussion syndrome after he was hurt during a practice with Canada's national men's team while preparing for the Gold Cup.

TFC got emergency help from 18-year-old Canadian David Monsalve on loan from the league for games against Aston Villa and Chicago but in spite of his heroics in both matches, he is seen by Johnston as a stop-gap measure.

"I'm not blaming the kid," Johnston said of Monsalve's play. "I thought he did well under the circumstances."

Johnston also faces the prospect of a game against the Los Angeles Galaxy on Sunday without the services of midfielder Ronnie O'Brien, forward Jeff Cunningham and defender Marvel Wynne, all of whom are lost to the club for a month or more with various serious injuries.

Also among the walking wounded is star forward Danny Dichio, who has hip flexor and back injuries that need resting.

Guest Can. in UK

Asmir Begovic played the 2nd half in a friendly against Bournemouth. He gave up a goal on a PK late in the game.

Kenny ready for Toronto, as long as he passes the medical test. The deal includes an option to buy him before 1. November 2007.

So with the rumours and stories out there, any of the following stable of Canadian keepers could be on the TFC roster in the near future:

Sutton, Djekanovic, Monsalve, Wagenaar, Stamatopolous

I guess Mo has it firmly in his mind that keeper will be a Canadian position.

Kevin Harmse has scored for LA against Dallas in the SuperLiga.

The Galaxy lead 4-0 after 20 minutes(!)

Harmse leaves the game in the 55th minute shortly after making an excellent tackle on Carlos Ruiz (which seems to be a Canadian specialty these days ;) ). Jazic & Serioux are still playing.

Jazic & Serioux go 90 as LA defeats Dallas 6 to 5(!!) in a game where any sort of defensive tactics were thrown out the window. Actually 4 of the 5 Dallas goals came after Harmse was taken off the field in his d-mid role where he was quite effective. Perhaps Yallop felt he couldn't go 90 after coming off an injury.

Incidentally, Mr. Class himself, Landon Donovan, got a yellow card for making a throat-slashing gesture while shouting "Game over" after he scored the 5th LA goal (which made it 5 to 3 at the time). To make his gesture even more foolish, that turned out to not be the winning goal for LA, they would still need another.

It's going to be so fun showering that douche bag with pink streamers on Sunday!

Highlights of the Dallas-LA match, where you can see all 11 goals & Prima Donovan's ugly gesture here:

The Harmse goal is quite good(though it perhaps victimizes Serioux worse than any other LA goal does, most of which the blame has to go to Adrian's teammates), and the previous goal to that was set up on a Jazic cross (although it has to be said the Dallas keeper in this match - the same guy who gave up four to TFC - was brutal on the play & the first goal as well. Has he ever heard of the concept of coming off his line to collect balls launched into the air in the 6 yard box?). On the downside I think Ante was somewhat guilty of ball-watching on the fourth Dallas goal.

A belated update but two clubs with Canadians played on Saturday as AEK defeated Club Brugge 2-0 in Athens. Tam Nsaliwa played unti the 70th (massive changes were made afterward by AEK) in a central midfield role right behind Rivaldo. Mike Klukowski was absent both in the lineup and on the bench.

Foxes players do dirty work

LEICESTER, England (AP) - Eccentric Leicester manager Martin Allen is preparing his players for the new season by making them work behind the scenes at Walkers Stadium.

"They have been in all the different parts of the ground, from IT, security, the shop, ticket office, maintenance - and cleaning out the toilets," Allen said. "This old thing about footballers being rich and famous and all different to you and me, I don't agree with that.

"They are talented people, but I think if they are not prepared to do these jobs I don't really like them."

Allen, nicknamed "Mad Dog," was appointed in June. He has previously managed Barnet, Brentford and MK Dons.

I thought Serioux was not that bad on the Harmse goal as he came out to stop the other guy turning with the ball (other than he might have been tighter originally on that guy who played the give and go). His central defense colleague should have picked up Harmse bursting up the center. It was a pretty pathetic as it was so easy to read.

I thought he was more at fault on 2. On that one, when the ball was played out on the left, he was quite far up field. If he would have shown some urgency, he might have got back to cover the player to whom the ball was eventually played to in the center. As it was, the guy simply had to tap it in by the defender who ran back to the line.

which apparently indicates that Gerba is back with the Swedish club.
