COUNTRIES WIN INAUGURAL ALL STAR

Saturday - July 28, 2007

Internationals on top

A technically superior performance by the International Conference All Stars resulted in a 5-0 victory over the National Conference in the 2007 Locust CSL All Star game played at Windsor Stadium Saturday night.

The attractive entertaining exhibition, the first of its kind in the Canadian Soccer League, lived up to its billing with a fast-paced encounter with the Internationals giving the impression they played together week in and week out.

The National Conference were under attack for much of the game while Internationals Bill Androutsos (Italia Shooters) and Helio Pereira (Portuguese Supra) combined well with Robert Grnja (Toronto Croatia), Alex Braletic, Milos Scepanovic, and Sasa Viciknez of Serbian White Eagles, with Tom Ples of Toronto Croatia also effective upfront.

Although he had to pick the ball out of the net five times, Anthony Santilli (Windsor Border Stars) played well in goal for the Nationals.

Pereira opened the scoring for the Internationals at the 12th minute mark and scored a second five minutes later for a 2-0 score at half time.

Viciknez also scored twice, at 62 and 70 minutes and Milos Scepanovic struck the fifth for the Internationals at the 81st minute.
