Canadians abroad on TV this week

Since soccerTV.com no longer serves Canada, I will no longer be compiling a "Canadians abroad on TV this week" list.

Guidelines for this thread

[*]In this thread post match updates on all Canadians abroad for July 20-26, 2007.

[*]If you find updates posted in some other thread or on the other Voyageurs forum then post them here as well, but be sure to credit the original poster.

[*]If there is news that is particularly significant (eg. someone scores a big goal, someone gets injured, etc.) then feel free to begin a new thread on that topic in order to draw greater attention or start a discussion, but also post that news here.

[*]Some comments on news posted in this thread are okay, but let's not let this thread go off into a long discussion. If the news already appears in another thread (as per the previous bullet) then post your comments in that other thread, otherwise if you want to say something significant or if it is likely to generate replies then begin a new thread.

Julian de Guzman has just signed a new contract with Deportivo. I suspect he probably got a pay rise!

The Gold Cup seemed to me like something of a coming out party for Julian. Not that he hasn't played well beforehand, but he played his best he's played for Canada(I've never seen him for Deportivo, so I'll leave that to the others) and was rewarded with Player of the Tournament.

Hopefully he can use the tournament as a slingshot into the season, and have a great season with Deportivo.

Have not seen that on the Depor site, not on the normal news sites either, do you have a source? I am not doubting it, just have not seen the info anywhere.

Oddly enough it was on his facebook page. He sent a message to his brother that he got a new deal. He wrote: "oh yeah.. i just signed a new contract..."

I assumed it was legit - I guess time will tell.

That's some lineup for LA. Pavon, Beckham, Xavier, Donovan, Jones ...

Stars a bit past their prime, but stars nonetheless ...

What do the recent changes mean for Kevin Harmse?

I was wondering why Jamie Peters hadn't played in a friendly yet - here's the answer:

"Jaime Peters will finally begin his pre-season training with Ipswich after a visa mix up.

The international has been playing for his country in the FIFA Under-20s World Cup in Canada but was due back to Portman Road last Friday.

But Peters was not allowed to board his flight as he did not have the necessary visa.

Peters thought he was picking up the necessary document at the airport, but instead it was being delivered to his home.

The winger had to wait until it arrived before booking another flight and is expected to be back in Suffolk in the next 36 hours."

Julian de Guzman has been called up by Canada for our friendly vs. Iceland August 22. This is the first player we have heard of I think.

On the front page here:

Depor has made some new signings, has lost some key players, will start a Julian at Depor thread for the new season soon. They go to Portugal to play two friendlies next week, one against Maritimo.
