Chivas USA spokesman Keegan Pierce said on Friday that Lester More, a 28-year-old forward, and Osvaldo Alonso, a 21-year-old midfielder, are expected to work out with the team during the week of July 9. "We have been aware of these players since word of their defection came through during the Gold Cup," Pierce said. "We filed an application with the league for the right of first refusal to sign them. "We've been in contact with them via a person who is representing them. They are currently in Miami, and our intention is to bring them to train with our team following our return from our upcoming road trip to Dallas and New England." Chivas USA's leading scorer is Maykel Galindo, who left the Cuba national team two years ago in Seattle. He eventually received political asylum and played for the Seattle Sounders of the United Soccer Leagues' First Division, where he played until joining Chivas USA during the pre-season. "They're national team players," Pierce said of More and Alonso. "That always says something when you've been picked to represent your country. Their former teammate, Maykel Galindo, has had a strong beginning to the season and is currently our scoring leader. That's why we want to bring them here, so we can see them ourselves." More and Alonso didn't show up for Cuba's 5-0 loss to Honduras on June 13.
