Hansa loses its exhibition game to Banik Ostrava 0:1. Ryan entered the match at the beginning of the second half but had to play as a member of the back four line. Eyewitnesses liked what they saw from him even though he played out of position.

Short interview with coach Pagelsdorf about the trainingscamp. Asked about Ryan he says there is no pressure right now and he has two years to show that he belongs on the team. He also comments that Ryan and the other prospects seem very tired physically.

Sweet memories.

Gyaki played 90 for the Hansa reserve team as they lost 3-0 to the team I support, Sachsen Leipzig. All three of the young talented players with first team potential signed by Hansa this year made their debut with the reserve team. It is looking like Gyaki and the other two will start the year off with the reserve team.

pretty much what I expected. Gyaki hasnt played a lot the last few years due to injuries and playing time is the most important thing for him this year. I also feel that at present he isnt a Bundisliga caliber player, but I think he will be in a few years. I really hope that he gets loaned out for the 2nd half of the year to Bundisliga 2 team, were he can hopefully gain experience playing at a high level. It really helped Nik last year.

Hansa Rostock also flew out to Prague to play against Sparta Prague and came out on the short end of the stick with a 2-0 loss. No Ryan in the formation and Hainault Made the trip to see the game and told me that from what he saw, Hansa will be in trouble this week-end when they meet up against power house Bayern Munchen.

In my opinion facing Bayern in such a early moment of the season is the best what could happen to Rostock.

I saw Bayern vs Niklas Ledgerwood former team of Burghausen and they needed a penalty shut out to beat them.

They always have problems against underdogs. All of them it takes it time to build a team of such great individualists. So I see a chance for Hansa to surprise tomorrow. But of course they need to get their points against other teams of the league.

Hansa learned the hard way. They played like chickens in their first game after returning to the Bundesliga. So, they can not compete, Bayern played 90 minutes power soccer without putting up resistence.

Ryan played 90 minutes for the second team as they won 4:0 at Spandau.

Ryan's injury continues to keep him on the sideline as the reserve team wins at Greifswald. This is very bad timing since Hansa struggles to make an impact and still remains without a point from three games so far. They miss a decent midfielder to make some quality passes be the link between defense and strikers.

Ryan appears to be back in the lineup for the Hansa reserve squad. They took a loss in a rescheduled game midweek against the Hertha reserve team. He played the first half. Next game is on Dec. 8th at the Ostseestadion against BFC Dynamo. They will have plenty of Fan support as the first team doesn't play until sunday.

According to this article Ryan's time at Hansa has come to an end. He has been released from his contract.

I was worried that was coming. Thanks for the update. The article states that for several weeks, Ryan was no longer training with the first team and he has been release from his contract (valid up to June 2009). Would they just pay him out, or does he have something else lined up?

He needs to find a team in the 2nd or 3rd division that he can get some playing time with. At 22 he is really to old to be signing with a big team and playing with their reserves. Hansa was probably not the best choice for him in this regard as the playing level is just much higher than what he has been at for the last several years.

He might have some issues with living in Rostock. Who knows? I do not think he should chuck his European efforts as yet (I imagine some wags will be suggesting Toronto as an ideal home - I think his potential is higher than that - might be proven wrong of course). He was 'Cdn youth player of the year' from 2-3 years ago. With the new Bundesliga 3 coming into play next year, he might have some opportunities. Having the Austrian passport helps immensely in his search.
