BrennanFan
We need some more nicknames for our players. Existing: - deRo - Diesel - Big Kev - 'Da Ali G Show' is pretty good. - I guess the players call Brennan 'The Move' but is that more their own thing? Jimmy B? - Hutch, Hirsch, JDG, Pozzy are ok, but we might do better - any others im not aware of? Deserving of Nicknames: - Hume: he's been called different things but we need consensus - Nakajima-Farran: The Beast from the Far East? (uh, maybe not) - Sutton: 'Fat' and 'Chicken Legs' has been thrown around lately - Jazic: Maybe Jazic is enough of a nickname since its really Yah-zeetch right? - Martin "Steve's Brother" Nash, maybe 'MVP'? - Peters should have one too. Speedy, Wheels, something about Pickering? - David "F'n" Edgar? - Rob Friend? Occean? Bernier? anyone else? - and a name relating to the Coaches/Team would be good too, like we had Holgers Heroes and the Frank Yallop Experience. El Hombre
quote:Originally posted by BrennanFan - Martin "Steve's Brother" Nash? I like this one. Gotta feel bad for the guy as no reporter/commentator can make a comment on him without feeling obliged to add that little tidbit in. quote:Originally posted by BrennanFan - and a name relating to the Coaches/Team would be good too, like we had Holgers Heroes and the Frank Yallop Experience. How about Dale Mitchell's Canadian Men's National Soccer Team? I just rolls off the tongue.

Guest speedmonk42
- Nakajima-Farran: The Beast from the Far East? (uh, maybe not) Hmmm well, if he can 'roll' like that and draw penalties. Maki. Naki-Roll
RS
quote:Originally posted by BrennanFan - David "F'n" Edgar? We were chanting this one at the Argentina friendly at BMO in May. He gave us a clap for it
BrennanFan
quote:Originally posted by canso "Attiba the Hun" I liked, but not sure what it means. Derived from... Attila the Hun (406-453) or the Scourge of God was Khan of the Hun people from 434 until his death. He was leader of the Hunnic Empire which stretched from the Netherlands to the Ural River and from the Danube River to the Baltic Sea (see map below). During his rule he was one of the most fearsome of the Western and Eastern Roman Empires' enemies. In much of Western Europe, he is remembered as the epitome of cruelty and rapacity (Wikipedia). CanadasBest
My favorites are Pwamme for DeRo... and Larry for Stalteri...
canso
It's catchy but doesn't really fit, it just doesn't describe his style. Attiba is just not a "rape and pillage" kind of guy. Attiba "The Flow" Hutchinson or "soft touch" Hutch or "The shadow"
Daniel
Atiba the Hutch, guys.
Guest speedmonk42
"soft touch" Hutch ------- Jesus. That makes him sound like a pervert.
BearcatSA
I was thinking of using "Pylon" or "Statue" for one or two of our guys, but I will try and think of positive ones instead. Perhaps swipe Rusty Staub's old Montreal Expo nickname for Hainault: Le grand orange!
DC76
This probably sounds really stupid, but I call Julian de Guzman, "the Gooz" [] Ones I've heard (no, I didn't come up with these[)]) Jazic = "Jazzy" Bernier = "Bernie" (Yes, we could do better on those, too ) What number does Occean wear? Because we could always spoof James Bond with a Double-O something-or-other nickname. Okay, I'll shut up now lol
maccaliam
was thinking something along the lines of bc Occean was 12 in the Bermuda game, he could be "Occean's 12." But that's more of like sign or headline than a nickname really. there must be some funny fact or song to do with an Ocean that can be altered for his name. I would say Friend shouldn't be too difficult to come up with something... songs especially.
Rujulus
Gerg, Gergs - Greg Sutton Heinous - Andrew Hainault Hasty - Richard Hastings Krall/The Crawler - Gabriel Gervais (for his blistering pace and uncanny resemblance to his long-lost twin sister Diana Krall)
Soju
Ha the crawler is nice. I think the David F'in Edgar nickname should just be applied to every single player on the team. Paul F'in Stalteri scored a nice goal on a pass from Iain F'in Hume. We'd get lots of new church going fans that way. Hutchinson is so fat we should call him Chunk style or Chub slice. DeRo looks a lot like Tom Cruise, maybe TC for short.

KAS
"Attiba the Hun" and "Da Ali G" are mandatory! These might be more banner ideas than nicknames, but how about: Hainault - Carrot Top or Go Big Red (kidding!) Bernier - Weekend at Bernier's! Onstad - On Standby JDG1 - De Loyal Guz Friend - The Friendly Giant I have some others that are equally lame, but this should do for now!
Danny Boy
Gerry Dobson said today that Onstad keeps on ticking, and considering he can take a licking too I nominate the nickname 'Timex'.

DC76
^lol. I was told by a Norwegian friend that Lars Hirschfeld was voted Rosenborg's best goalkeeper of all time in a fan poll last season, and Spurs fans seem to really like him too, so why not "Legend" for Lars? "Jaime the Jet" might be fitting because of Peters' superior speed.
