CoachRich
Interesting OTR on soccer in Canada, the U20's, CSA & etc. Dick Howard was upfront about the WNT program. http://www.tsn.ca/shows/otr/
CoachRich
So now the WNT generates there own PR. Where is the CSA?
The Ref
To CoachRich Now that the CSA Financials for 2006 are out, what is your conclusion of their affairs and how does this affect your campaign?

CoachRich
The Ref, Item 1 - still moving ahead as the financials don't tell us anything about Gender Equity, shelving of all the female programs except the Seniors, Constitutional issues (shelving of the Female Committee & the not following of the Athlete Reps section) & etc Item 2. Mission 1/2 completed but there is lots of informaiton missing of which questions will be asked shortly. My conclusion of their affairs is sad. W/ Nykamp coming onbaord we have already seen some changes as any smart person would like not to walk into a minefield. I'm sure he is going to have to learn fast & some heads will roll. Hopefully he will tell the BOD to take a hike so he can sort through the mess. A call for a open committee or the formation of a federation type system as some suggest is needed. The financials prove that the promote a PSO Presdient volunteer or patriarchy system doesn't work. The CSA needs business people w/ connections & profiles to build the sport so there is money to build a system that is successful as the US or even Cali's
Richard
Nykamp reports to the BOD, not likely to tell them to take a hike unless he is willing to do the same :-) That said, Nykamp and the CSA obviously have a whole lot of work to do. CoachRich
Know that & it's part of the problem of having the inexperienced telling the experienced :-( IMO he has to take over as if he lets the BOD contuinue their ways it's going to eat him as well. He's been successful in the NPO world according to some so I doubt he wants a red mark on his CV if the CSA continues their poor record.

DoyleG
quote:Originally posted by CoachRich Title IX - "No person in the United States shall, on the basis of sex, be excluded from participation in, be denied the benefits of, or be subjected to discrimination under any education program or activity receiving Federal financial assistance." Also relates to equity in sports programs. ie. a university that only funded a male soccer team had to fund a female soccer team if the females wanted a team. In Canada we don't need Title IX has we have the Charter of Rights & Freedoms specifically Section 28. Of course, reading a charter doesn't prove what your talking about. The Ref
I see that Colin Linford picks up his second trip as head of the delegation for the men's game against Iceland. Will he dare to be head of delegation for the women in China? After all his demeaning comments about women, wouldn't that be something. Am sure our women team will beat him up good. Richard
No matter what your personal opinion of Linford's capabilities he remains the duly elected president of the CSA and as such has a duty to represent the organisation and Canadian soccer in a high profile manner. That may very likely involve heading the delegation to the WWC in China. Whether you like it or not that would be an appropriate thing for hime to do. Jon Que
So, not really sure what that sales guy was trying to say, but it sounds like the WNT have some kind of sponsors coming on board soon? It won't help for this World Cup, but maybe they can actually get some games in before Olympic Qualifying. Linford was not available? Looks like the CSA don't want him making anymore stupid, insensitive comments.
