Johnnyranger
It sure is Brandon... There are three or four 'heavyweights' so to speak in this tourney including 1. Columbus Clan (BC Champs) 2. ICSF Inter (I think they won Kamloops) 3. Croatia SC (A Few recognizable faces on this squad) 4. Last years ACBC Challenge cup champs Vancouver Olympic Utd (most of the 2006 Vancouver Nations Cup Champs: India)

Johnnyranger
The tournament organizer I suppose. The entrance fee is $1000 to enter, plus sponsorships etc plus a large beer and food garden...
Richard
The tournament is organised and sponsored by Rich Gabelhouse who also operates the Athletic Club of BC team that I understood plays in the Fraser Valley Soccer League but I don't see them listed anywhere in last season's final FVSL standings. According to the website www.acbcfc.com the prize for the winning team from this weekend's tournament is $8,000 cash plus an 'all expenses paid' trip to the CSL Open Canada Cup Final. The advertised $45,000 in prizes I suspect includes the estimated cost for the trip plus the $10,000 prize money for winning the OCC.
brandon
if i remember correctly ACBC were in div.2 of the FVSL last season and may have promoted up to div.
Regs
Brandon is correct, ACBC plays in the FVSL. Prize money does include all-expenses paid trip for 18 players I believe (air, hotel, transportation). Croatia 'features' Johnny Sulentic and though he is not playing this weekend (I don't think), Oliver Heald is rumoured to be playing there this coming season. Inter is a quality young team that has done very well the last few seasons in the VMSL, winning league and Imperial Cup titles - they can't seem to get over the provincial cup 'hump'. Up until last season, Kevin Harmse played there (sporadically). Columbus, when everyone is available, is top-notch. They have a great mix of veterans and youngsters... I don't believe everyone is playing this weekend though. They are led by player/coach Carmen D'Onofrio and vets Tirnan King & Darren Nott. Other notable players include Alex Elliot, Stephan Leslie, and Mike D'Augistine (sp?) though I'm not too sure they are still in the squad (Elliot @ University of Portland, Leslie @ Whitecaps). Sulentic played on Saturday morning. Croatia did not advance from its group, neither did AFC Leopards. Punjabi Hurricanes and UCFV beat them out. Inter and Columbus did advance and Columbus beat Inter 1-0 yesterday. Tyler Rosenlund and Aaron Keay also played for Columbus. Columbus also has a number of 3 former UBC standouts, even though SFU Clan is part of its name. Columbus should claim top prize tonight (Monday). Johnnyranger
Sulentic also played Friday night. The goal he scored on the free kick was amazing Saturday morning... The Friday night game between AFC and Vancouver Olympic Utd was wicked. Fast paced end to end played at an absolute sprint. ended 4-1 AFC, keeper MOM for sure... Tonite should be good to watch, ACBC is young and fast Columbus played 4 & 1/2 hard games, the 1/2 comes from when Fiji walked off the field and forfeited the rest of their tourney games.
