Alberto7
Football-rumours.com is indicating that Stalteri will transfer to TFC at the end of the season on a free transfer: http://football-rumours.com/index.htm quote:Unlike those, this one is small, true and on good authority- at the end of the Premiership season, Spurs defender Paul Stalteri will return home, moving to Toronto FC in MLS on a free transfer (he's from Toronto suburb Etobicoke, and at almost 30 is no longer quick enough for the Premiership- if he ever was) . JamesW
"These rumours have been sent in. Please send in your football rumours using our rumours form" Does that mean that I could send in a rumour about Cristiano Ronaldo moving to Toronto FC on a free transfer? Well if Stalteri going to Toronto FC is true, that would be great. TFC could use him for sure.
Rujulus
That would be nice. While Goldthwaite is looking solid at left back, Wynne, though not without promise, needs work. Stalts would be a quantum leap improvement at RB.

Apples and Oranges Stalteri is Canadian(from Toronto) and has played two very average seasons in the EPL(when he has played). He probably won't play at Tottenham next year and I doubt he'll go elsewhere in the EPL. So what are his options? 1)Return to Germany 2)Play in the League Championship 3)Play in the MLS in his home town I can see this happening... Gian-Luca
If Stalteri came back to TFC (the way the team is now) I'd play him in the midfield.
redhat
As much as I would like to see a top-flight Canadian play for TFC, I think he still has a few years playing in Europe, whether in the EPL, CCC, Germany, or Scandinavia. I'm sure Bremen would like to see him back, but I still think Tottenham want him as cover for Chimbonda, or they would have dealt him away earlier. jpg75
#1) Stalteri has 2 years left on his deal at Spurs. If Spurs are going to let him go on a free transfer then they are giving away free money since atleast a handful of EPL, Bundesliga and CCC teams would fork out atleast high 6 figures for his contract. #2) Those 2 years and are probably paying him atleast BP1M so unless TFC decides to use their DP at approx. $US2M a year, then we're not seeing him here. #3) This is a site where people make up rumours, it's like the National Enquirer of football rumours. VPjr
the following is a summary of the events that would need to take place before Paul comes home on a free transfer this summer: a) Global warming on earth somehow results in the freezing over of hell Bio Tech researchers combine the DNA of swine and seagulls to create a Pig that flies Keep an eye out for these 2 things. As soon as they happen, expect a news report welcoming Paul back home to play for the mighty TFC

Ya think? I can't see an EPL side signing a suddenly injury prone player whose approaching the wrong side of 30. More discouraging to me was that Jol didn't feel he was of "utility man" quality, preferring Chimbonda to left back and central defence during trying times. I'm curious to see how Stalteri's situation plays out in the close season.

Teams who look for value and/or some of the cellar dwellars who can add a savvy vet for under a million quid.

I understand your point but I think the injury trend may scare teams off . . . you can't provide much in the way of savvy from the physio room. Calgary Boomer
Ain't going to happen. He makes too much money over there, and frankly, I don't think he'd help the chemistry of this team. Besides, his agent isn't also the agent for Mo Johnson and Andy Welsh.

EPL: $1.7m ELC: $500 000 L1: $180 000 L2: $125 000 MLS $100 000 i wouldnt count on too many 29 year olds with 2 years in the EPL and 7 years at a top bundesliga team moving directly to TFC... Desigol
If Stalteri would join TFC, then TFC's profile would be raised even further. Could even get some TV coverage.
