Saputo Stadium groundbreaking (pictures and video)

In a typical groundbreaking ceremony the speeches and media presentation are made inside and then they go outside and break the ground. It would take all of 5 or 10 minutes. You make it sound like this mild snow storm was a raging blizzard. If the conditions were so bad how did all the people actually make it to the tent for the ceremony in the first place? It is a good idea to do it outside because then it seems like a real groundbreaking ceremony not a Westmount soiree. It is Saputo's money and he can do it however he wants but this ceremony seemed more in the tradition of the Hartrell's than what is typical of a professional soccer club.

Guys...who really cares about the details of a bloody ground breaking ceremony. You should just be happy you are getting a proper stadium. Way too much complaining about pointless stuff IMHO.

I personally think the Saputos deserve a pat on the back. The 3D images of the stadium look impressive. This will be an excellent addition to the soccer stadium landscape in Canada (the only way it could be better is if they would just make it a bit larger so they could seat 18-20K per game rather than 13K but since the Saputos are paying for a big chunk of this project out of pocket, I can understand the desire to be more conservative).

Is the open end of the stadium capable of accomodating temporary seating?

I prefer a low budget ceremony and the money saved go towards the stadium.

who is going to remember about the low cost ceremony in a year or so after the satdium has been built?
