puskas
I think all the leagues should make a rule that all expansion teams should start at home. It can happen only once. It is cheating the TFC fans because unless they make the trip to Cali, they will miss it. MLS drops the ball because TFC debuting at home would have got them great media attention to get their season off on the right note. Makes no sense. Ben Knight
Puskas, I think part of the problem today is that it's snowing in Toronto, and the stadkum is not completely finished. In three weeks, neither of those things will be true (unless it snows).
Rocket Robin
Glad you brought that up. Do you live in Toronto? It's -1 C outside (30 F) and windy. There's been snow falling off and on throughout the day. The Toronto papers are caught up in the 'one game to save the season' for the Maple Leafs hockey team. With that petition, we could have had a home opener with Los Angeles Galaxy without David Beckham and had season tickets stuck at maybe 11k. I dont think that it would be a good idea. Besides, the stadium isnt even finished yet. I took these photos this morning.
puskas
Thanks! I was not aware of all these things because I live in the West Coast and the weather is beautiful (nice to rub it in). The stadium looks beautiful I gotta say, can't wait to see it host football games.
mrpopulistfutebol
By the way. What is wrong with -1C. In Colorado today, they are playing their home opener in 30F weather with snow flakes.

Rocket Robin
But I think the showcase of the home opener is for the fans... At the start of the Blue Jays game today they once again showed footage from their first ever game...1977 in the snow. That became a symbol of Toronto for North America for decades like seal hunting within the city limits. It certainly was more likely for Toronto to have snow than Colarado and the schedule has to be drawn up months in advance. And months ago the stadium was less complete. Let's see if Vancouver gets the Olympic facilities ready in time...
Cheeta
After yesterdays match against Chivas I think everyone should probably be thankfull that the team will get a chance to sharpen up a little bit before putting on their show for the home support.
