So is CBC the new Canada broadcaster?

Quite a day.

Quite a day indeed. When has there ever been this much good news coming out of the CSA?

Not sure how much of this crop of happy developments are carry-overs from the Pipe era and how much originated with Linford but if this is what he and his have been up to instead of hiring tech. directors, CEOs and NT coaches then much can be forgiven.

Hell, for no other reason then the sad memmories of the National Stadium fiasco even if the Hyundia/Yahoo and CBC deals were initiated under Pipe's watch it was Linford who has made them happen.

We'd all be looking forward to matches at New Varsity instead of New Ex/BMO if the man was more involved just a couple of years ago. That man IS a closer. Or he at least knows how to hire one and that's good enough for me.

Untill someone tells me differently, our Mr. Linford gets the credit (simply because there is no-one else of authority at the CSA these days).

Currently no one holds the rights for Canadian Soccer. The Gold Cup will NOT be on CBC.

fox soccer channel usually covers it in the states and fox sports world canada would pick up the games if no other network is interested. It goes to show CBC's interest in soccer in they don't pick up the Gold cup, the just want the "biggies" tournaments.

Not to play Devil's Advocate or anything, but the CBC will be putting out a whole whack of footie this summer in the way of the WYC and maybe, hopefully, a few lead up friendlys.

May be a bit shy about throwing even more footie out-there. They've already gone from famine to feast in a single season and may fear "over exposing" this new product.

Of course on the other hand, a good Gold Cup run by Canada would be a huge marketing vessel to promote the U20 tourny. So as the host broadcaster of that tourny you'd hate to loose that opportunity by not having Canada's matches broadcast.

How about petitioning IMG Canada and Soccer Properites Canada for their lack of organization and communication.....maybe there is a reason why a deal has not been done with ANYONE! Let's just say there was more than one network available and willing to carry the Scotland games and Bermuda.
