Jackson has scored again for Rushden & Diamonds (16th of the season).... R&D leads Exeter 2-0 at the half.

I'll bet Jackson moves on to a bigger club in the summer time.

Feyenoord 1 - 1 Roda JC Kerkrade:

DeGuzman plays 90 for Feyenoord, while De Jong does not get off the bench for Roda.

Heracles Almelo 3 - 1 ADO Den Haag

Friend plays 90 minutes in a big win over Josh-less ADO. ADO and JW look likely to drop.

Ajax 0 - 1 Heerenveen

No sign of Will Johnson for Heerenveen in their big upset.

Very alert to keep himself onside when he realised Dafoe not no intent of passing and drifted into a wider area than Lennon. Very nice possitioning.

Wild, wild 2nd half. Hammers are aweful but there wasn't a bad goal in that 2nd half (Okay, maybe Lennon's touch to Tanio should never have been allowed to happen but full marks on the finish).

Paul looked pretty dodgey there but settled in after a bit. Nice movement down the line, crap left footer that went 5 yard wide but whatever. Brave enough to make the effort. Closed down Tevez hard and put him off enough to save the goal. Yikes that was close.

(Boooo. That's the last nail in the coffin lid. Hammers are going down...)

Great game between Tottenham and West Ham. Although Stalteri did look awkward a few times at the back he was great at bringing the ball forward (something Spurs had a terrible time doing in the 1st half). Stalteri actually started the play that led to Berbatov's free-kick goal. As marktci said, hopefully this means more playing time for him. Spurs fans may not like him too much, but when he plays (especially last year) Tottenham seem to win more often than they do when he's on the bench.

Hainault played 90 minutes in an easy 4-1 victory over second division. Banik Sokolov. The Gambrinus Liga restarts next weekend.

Simpson played the first half and Williams played the second in a SK Kladno 3-1 friendly victory over Hradec Kralove of the second division. Some may remember Paul Munster (from Northern Ireland ex-London City player) who went to play a few games with Slavia Praha and then in Sweden. Well, he is back in the Czech Republic with Hradec Kralove and he scored their only goal today.

Ling played the last 8 minutes for Jablonec "B" against TJ Desna (5th division). Jablonec "B" won the friendly 5-3.

Sigma, if you look at the post I made about the Meridien Cup a few days back I mention a u-18 in the Hradec Kralove system who I thought was the absolutely best guy on the field, Jan Hable, a marvellous young organizing mid who was given the captaincy for Europe. Was subbed out injured. Any comments on their youth or development system, or why such an incredible player has not yet been picked up by a stronger side, the guy is superb.

J. de Guzman was able to recover from a muscle pull that had him doubtful and played 90, taking a yellow m. 66, as Deportivo fell to a late Betis goal, 0-1, their first loss in any competition of 2007. Julian it seems had a good shot that went just wide m. 17, also had another shot going wide.

Fernando Aguiar played 90 in a 0-1 Gondomar away win over O. Moscavide, taking them firmly into 6th spot in the Portuguese 2nd division. As the leaders all won they remain 8 back of a promotion spot, but still doing very well this season.

McKenna played 90 as Cottbuss came up with a big win at Borussia Dortmund 2-3, every point vital as half the table is threatened with relegation in the Bundesliga, they are in a huge tie near the bottom but just above the hangman's noose.

Lucky Klukowski did not play for Club Bruges, with a beating at the hands of Germinal Beerschot 4-0, they are doing terribly this season, will have to work hard to even make a UEFA spot.

To update some stuff left hanging, Southend came back with a late goal to draw Leicester. Re Hume, he is far and away the team's leading scorer this year, great to see him proving his worth in the Championship.

No Pesch in Derby's 5-1 thrashing of Colchester.

De Vos played 90 and Peters was subbed out m. 84 as they beat QPR 2-1. Bircham is injured I do believe.

Royal League 2006/07, Quarterfinals:

March 4 :

Elfsborg (Swe) v FC København (Den) 1-2

0-1 Hjalte Bo Nørregaard 21'

0-2 Michael Silberbauer 49'

1-2 Samuel Holmen (pen.) 52'

Red card: Jesper Grønkjær 88'

Attendance: 6,703

The Swedish Champions Elfsborg put up a very good fight against a FCK team that came to Sweden to score a few goals and then defend their lead. So for the most part it was up to Elfsborg to dominate the play and attack, which they actually did very well. Unfortunately for the Swedes they very much lacked the needed punch in attack, while FCK looked much more sharp when they got the chance. So while FCK managed to score a few goals and also hit the Elfsborg woodwork, then it took a very clumsy penalty by the FCK defender Hangeland for Elfsborg to score a goal. But it was really more some solid hard work rather than a well played match by Atiba Hutchinson and the rest of the FCK team.

OB Odense (Den) v Lillestrøm (Nor) 1-1 (2-2 AET), 6-3 Pen.

0-1 Magnus Myklebust 12'

1-1 Morten Fevang 16'

1-2 Espen Søgård 95'

2-2 Jonas Borring 109'

Penalty shootout 3-1 :

3-2 Chris Sørensen

Simen Brenne LSK, miss penalty

4-2 Ulrik Laursen

4-3 Khaled Mouelhi

5-3 Jonas Borring

Arild Sundgot LSK, miss penalty

6-3 Morten Fevang

The match between OB Odense and Lillestrøm never became all that well played, but was more of a tactical fight between two fairly solid looking teams. Still, it was OB dominating most of the play and also creating most of the big opportunities. So it was perhaps only fair and not all that surprising that they won the penalty shootout in the end, since the OB keeper and their penalty shooters are known to be very cool minded and highly efficient at penalties. Infact the OB keeper said beforehand that if it came to a penalty shootout then he was sure OB would win this match and so they did. Still, Lillestrøm put up a good fight by holding OB to a draw and looking sharp and on target when they got the opportunity to score.

Thanks for all the info. It is great to get the news out of Denmark. I lived in Arhus for a few months and like to keep up on the football scene there (especially with how well Hutch is doing). By the way, do you name yourself after the excellent beer that they brew in Arhus?
