torontofc
Canada has many young palyers playing all around the world. England, Spain, Sweden, Norway, wherever. But my question is, who are Canada's most promising players (other then JDG)under the age of 22 at each position(one goalie, two defenders, two midfielders, two strikers)? There is a large pool of players to pick from, but if I were to choose this is how it would go. GK- Asmir Begovic or Josh Wagenaar? - I would put them ahead of Monslave, Giacomi, Zach Kalthoff. But I don't know who is supposed to be the better keeper???? D - 1.David Edgar and 2.Kennedy Owusu-Ansah - Am I right here? Or would you put Kent O’Connor in there instead, or anyone else for that matter? M - 2.Jacob Lensky and 1.Jaimie Peters - Are they better then Ayre, Nunez, McCallum, Pereira, Ledgerwood,Gyaki ? F - 1.Will Johnson and Andrea 2.Lombardo - Would you not agree? So make your own list, tell me what you think of mine. Remember, these are the best players going forward for the CMNT. If you think they will not be a part of the team, leave for another country, then don't include them.
jpg75
GK - Begovic, Wagenaar (1a and 1b) D - Edgar, Hainault, Ledgerwood..1,2,3 Mid - Peters, Johnson, Lensky F - Lombardo...??
masster
I think we have promising players at every position except forward. This is a disturbing trend. I don't want to count out Lombardo but not cracking the lineup of a Serie C2 team is a pretty telling sign. I hope he can turn things around with TFC but with the pressure on Mo to be competitive I don't think he'll see too much playing time. I really liked KOA during the Brazil series and I hope that he is progressing in Germany. I wish we had more news on how he is doing.
Guest Ed
Apparently KOA is doing all right. Started in an exhibition match last week (Feb 7) against a Polish side playing the first half. Bit of a mixed squad with no real first team regulars. The Hertha site is rather lean on non-pro side news. =15627&tx_ttnews[tt_news]=852&cHash=0e03dc56da]Link I can't get the url posted as you would like. Copy the whole thing and then put it into your browser window for the recap of the game and lineup (in German). <mod>cleaned up the link</mod>

One story from last fall where the amateurs get paired up with pros for some bonding and then this game report. That's it. I added a note on useing the url above. Ivan
I would agree with jpg75's list. Maybe add Lammie or Jackson to the forward position?
An Observer
Jackson could be interesting up front. He has scored 12 goals in the conference this year. You could argue that he is ahead of Hume at that age as the latter only managed the occassional start for Tranmere prior to the U-20s although Tranmere was 2 flights up from the conference. Both have potential, Lammie is athletic and Jackson seems to be a goal poacher type.
loyola
Begovic or Wagenaar Edgar, Hainault, Ledgerwood and KOA Peters Nunez Johnson Lensky Lombardo Jackson Not a bad line up, my only concern being the strikers.
Grizzly
I would say that Ryan Gyaki is pretty promising as a forward if he can stop getting injured constantly.
torontofc
Jackson has scored two hat-tricks this year I think, so he can score. But can he do it at a higher level then in the Conference?

This is essentially the Olympic team isn't it? Also don't they start qualifing for Bejing this year?

Qualifying should start in late 2007, early 2008. As for the lineup, don't forget Gyaki and Rosenlund in midfield. Then we'll have to wait and see if De Jong stays Canadian and whether he's a better fit at LB with Lensky at left mid or if Ramalho makes a comeback at LB and we can use De Jong at left mid. Pretty much a bunch of IF's on the left side. At forward we also have Riley O'Neill, Jeff Gonsalves and Julian Uccello eligible for the U23. Guest speedmonk42
Have not heard the name Ramalho in a while. I think his dad used to post on this forum. How old is he anyway?
