Jamaica's King banned for 2 years

KINGSTON, Jamaica (AP) - Marlon King has been banned from playing for Jamaica for two years for breaking a team curfew and refusing to apologize to team management.

The 26-year-old striker will not be eligible to play internationally until May 2008, the Jamaica Football Federation announced late Monday.

King, who plays for English Premier League team Watford, was expelled from a training camp last year after he broke curfew two days before a friendly at England. He refused to apologize, saying he and teammates Jason Euell and Jamal Campbell-Ryce were out when curfew was set at a team meeting.

Euell and Campbell-Ryce were also asked to leave the training camp but were allowed to stay after successful appeals. They were fined 50 per cent of their match fees.

The British-born King qualified to play for Jamaica because his father was born in the Caribbean country.

He first played for the Reggae Boyz in 2004 against Venezuela, and scored six goals in twelve appearances.
