Yet, I respect his decision whatever it turns out to be, and dont even harbour any negative sentinement towards him. For a great many years, there were no professional structures in Canada with accompanying development systems. Its bound to happen and there will be more as long as promising youth players move to Europe. He went Holland when he was 12 years old; not even a teenager. whose fault is that? not his? meteor
Any guy who turns down a chance to play with his own brother is a wanker anyways...if he bolts the Dutch can have him.
JPB
The new and improved Canadian team may become much more attractive to players like Jonathon De Guzman (he's not the only one on the 5-6 year horizon). A team that threatens to win big games, if not actually become champions, with increasing frequency is a team that brings its own glory to the table. The Dutch team has that in spades, already, and they fight tooth and nail through tough regionals to earn their spot on the stage of the World Cup. To become a part of THAT is hugely attractive. For some players, loyalties are divided due to how and where they developed. But if increasingly Canadian national team players start young with the prospect (realistic prospect) of a Canadian team as regional contenders, year after year, the divided loyalties thing will fade somewhat. Still, it can't be eliminated given the level of soccer played at club level in Canada-USA.

Are you referring to players like Edgar, Johnson, Peters, etc. or are do you actually know of young teenagers (>13<)who have made the move to top European clubs(such as JDG2 when he headed over to Holland as a 12 year-old)?
