Essentially it is the game of soccer played on sand. The North American Sand Soccer Championships happens on the beaches of Virginia each year. Each year over 8000 participants on 800 teams from all over the world compete for cash prizes. The majority of the participants are conventional outdoor soccer players. The game, played on 25-35 or 30-40 yard grids, is 5v5 and fast-paced, with limited dribblin’ and laser shots on goal. Brackets are seeded to support all levels of play - from the beginner to the most professional. With a high population of soccer players in Ontario, we are assessing the feasibility of bringing this emerging beach sport to Ontario and are looking to you for input to gauge the interest level.
