jpg75
quote:Originally posted by Richard I have a sense Bjorn Osiek is not interested in the job at present. That's too bad. But maybe if he continues to do a bang up job in BC he could try for the COO role that Linford holds when his time is up. That position might be a better fit, and allow him to have a greater impact? Does he double as COO or is it held by someone else? Never mind, i went to the CSA site. The position open right now is the COO position. Why did i think it was the CEO position? Which one was Pipe's title?
Marco07
Osieck would be an excellent addition to the CSA and they should truly consider looking into this option for themselves, if they already haven't started. He would do a bang up job and help improve the overall direction of the CSA. There should be a push from the soccer community to get him in there. The Beaver
quote:Originally posted by Richard I have a sense Bjorn Osiek is not interested in the job at present. I'd hazard a guess that he likely feels he is not quite ready to take it on. But don't doubt he's got the chops to get there someday, perhaps soon. SF
At a loss - what does the ball cap reference mean?
Marco07
He is referring to a bust up that his father, Holger had with "Marc Bircham". Holger thinks its unprofessional for the players to wear ball caps, and I think Bircham disagreed with him.
Grizzly
Yes, Holger Ossieck forbade our players to wear ballcaps when he was national team coach.

I think that this was some sort of formal function where the organizers invited the teams and its players.

I think that this was some sort of formal function where the organizers invited the teams and its players. I thought it was at the 2001 Confederation Cup in Japan. After a screw up with hotel reservations, the size of the beds, and a long train ride, everyone was in a bad mood. Holger was unhappy with practice and a friendly with a 2nd-div J-League team (2-0 for us, but Holger thought we should have destroyed them), and he made Marc Bircham take off his hat. After what apparently was a smart-alec reply, Holger benched Bircham despite his dad flying in all the way from the U.K. In hindsight, professionals should have acted accordingly on BOTH sides. Bircham did play later, after Holger left, including the Finland and Belize games.
