He was born in Hamilton, Ontario but moved back to his parents homeland of Northern Ireland when just a child. There was no question of him ever playing for Canada. He had a very solid 82 in Spain for Northern Ireland IIRC sending in the cross that was put in as N.I. defeated Spain.
