Guest Ed
quote:Originally posted by jpg75 Hey Ed, any word on Imhof getting the start tomorrow against Bayern? Daniel Imhof is on the bench as Bayern Munich host VfL Bochum at Allianz Arena today. No sign of Hargreaves despite his publicized return in the media. Kapitan Kev and Energie Cottbus are away to hosts Hamburger SV tomorrow.
Guest Ed
Bochum's draw yesterday was the final straw for the Bayern Munich braintrust who always expect the title is theirs each season. Magath is fired mid way through the season, with Bayern in 4th place overall, 5 pts out of first place, and Hitzfield is brought back as coach. Also today, some Bayern player was named England's player of the year. That has to be a first. Kevin McKenna is doing alright in front of 55,000 in Hamburg today, as Energie Cottbus are holding on to a 1-1 tie with Hamburger SV despite being outplayed. Close to the end of the first half. Guest Ed
Another big point for Cottbus as they hang on to the 1-1 draw in Hamburg. You'd have made a lot of money predicting Hamburg and Borussia Moenchengladbach were in the relegation spots at this point in the season with Cottbus in the middle of the pack (11th actually). frank
This weekend 2 canadians will meet face to face, when Bochum with Daniel Imhof travels to Cottbus. In the 2nd League Niklas Ledgerwood meets his past, when he will return with Wacker Burghausen on monday to 1860 of Munich. Game of tha day and will broadcasted in German TV (DSF)
Grizzly
There is no Canadian derby as Imhof doesn't make it off the bench while Kaptain Kev plays 90 as Bochum and Cottbus tie 0-0.
Guest Ed
Looks like Nik Ledgerwood will likely start against his home club while on loan with Wacker Burghausen as on Monday he goes back to Munich. Missed last week's game with a slight muscle pull but had a solid performance against FC Koeln the week before according to the Wacker Burghausen coach. Ivan
Kevin McKenna earns a 2.5 Kicker rating for his performance against Bochum Saturday, highest rated player in the match. Ledgerwood is in the starting lineup against 1860. I am surprised 1860 is allowing him to play in such an important game for them since he is only on loan to Burghausen. Guest Ed
Nik and company hold on in the first half, coming out 1-0 down to 1860 Muenchen. They briefly tie it up in the 2nd half but then are bombarded, final score 5-1, including an own goal by Nik. Nik goes 90 minutes and also picks up a yellow card for a hard tackle on one of his ex-teammates, might even be from this pic (Nik on the left). Guest Ed
Ouch. Posted on Bigsoccer.com by LoewenBoy: The announcers on Bayrischerundfunk were joking that the Ledgerwood goal was perhaps the most imporant goal scored from 1860 all season; and that his contract we CERTAINLY be extended in 2009. Grizzly
It was not really an own goal by Ledgerwood however. The 1860 player Adler shot the ball and it hit Ledgerwood's knee and deflected into the goal to make it 3-1. The game summary credits the goal to Adler not as an own goal. I've seen one game summary credited to Adler but at least 2 others that have it as an own goal.
