Ugh. Is it that time of the month already?

I suppose it's been far too long since you last whined about this. Let me ask you, you're obviously referring to the U20 matches scheduled for March in BC, which climate is better for soccer in March? Atlantic Canada or BC?

WHY ARE THERE SO MANY GAMES IN BC ?

WHY DO YOU GUYS SEEM TO BE IGNORING ATLANTIC CANADA ?

WE HAVE VERY PASSIONATE SOCCER FANS HERE.

WE'RE NOT THE 3RD WORLD DUMP THAT THE FEDERAL GOVERNMENT WANTS US TO BE.

PLEASE ANSWER THIS QUESTION.

I think that once BMO Field is finished, you can replace BC with Toronto. BC from Nov to Mar seems to be the only place to play. The CSA's responsibility should be to acquire more home games to play in other parts of the country at other times of the year. But the deal with MLSE and BMO Field will make that a moot point.

If they can play top league soccer in 0, -2, -5 degree weather, they can certainly play national team games in the same type.

Where? The difference between those top league games in 0, -2 or -5 degree weather and playing in the winter in (most of) Canada is that here the turf is frozen solid; not so in Europe. You cannot play on a frozen pitch.

yeah, but the csa is intent on making sure the Trinis, Jamaicans, Guats etc feel at home and comfortable when they come here to steal WCQ games from us with the help of corrupt CONCACAF officials. Perish the thought we should ever schedule games in locations, time zones, and climatic conditions that might benefit Canada.

I'd wager that most of our big grass stadiums are equipped with under soil heating. Not sure how it works with the turf though. Does it even freeze at the same temp? I have to admit, I'm completely ignorant with the science behind turf. If you're in the know, i'd love to hear an explanation.

You have to be careful with terms here. Please substitute 'ground' for 'turf' in my most recent post. I am not aware of any Cdn facilities that use 'under soil/carpet heating'.

Maybe you should also ask your provincial association.

Logistics, facilities, and guaranteed revenues are some things the

provincial associations have to work out with the CSA. The WCQ in

1985 in St.John's was also because the NSA guaranteed the gate with

the CSA.

Since Stephen Hart was from the Maritimes (via T&T), I'm sure he

and the CSA is well aware of the features of Atlantic Canada. I know

it suc!s for you, but being from the prairies we know what it's like.

You know how it works, money talks and ...

Frank Clair is domed during the winter so I assume they have some kind of ground heating mechnism unless the dome itself is heating the ground? Not sure how it works.

I've played in a dome and it had portable heavy-duty heaters (just not the first week... brrrrrrrrr).

It's the 4 Atlantic Provinces of Canada.

-Nova Scotia

-New Brunswick

-Prince Edward Island

-Newfoundland & Labrador

Why did you list 5 then????

You're talking playing under a bubble on artificial turf. I was responding to the statement by Alex M.: "I'd wager that most of our big grass stadiums are equipped with under soil heating." I don't know of any in Canada that have under soil heating.

Please dont embarass us Atlantic Canadians. You sound like a 5 year old. Theres no facilites here to have games at that would be fifa approved (Maybe king George), theres no infastructure, crowds are a crapshoot, You cant play games in the Winter here. MNT GAMES: PEI definatly no, NB no, NS no, only maybe NFLD would have a chance. Id love to see a game there, but dont come across as a brat. Were no different than the pararies.

I'm also from Atlantic Canada (NB) but I don't expect to see a MNT game in my home province anytime soon. My main point in my earlier post was not to argue specifically for MNT in Atlantic Canada, but rather to point out the sheer stupidity shown by the CSA in scheduling WCQ games at times and locations beneficial to our loathsome opponents, rather than to our boys. That midweek night game in Vancouver to start 06 WCQ was an absolute joke. And Yallop had the gall at the time to claim that the MNT players preferred that time and location. Sure Frank, I bet Ante Jazic was overjoyed flying for 18 hours from Russia and playing a game at what felt like 3 AM to him. I realize that the Atlantic doesn't have great infrastructure, and most of the games should go to the major centers... but if we can't occasionally use King George V to our advantage, especially for midweek games, then the CSA is not doing everything possible to qualify. Nfld is, I think, only 4 time zones from London... if we schedule a midweek WCQ game there at noon it will be like 4 PM for many of our guys... plus it will feel like early morning to the detested Guats and their ilk. Add to that a short flight, a climate similar to northern Europe, and amenable to the uptempo game many of our guys play, plus a pro-Canadian crowd, and the CSA are idiots not to judiciously make use of it. Then again...

Frank Clair does not have any kind of ground heating and barely air heating at the best of times. Just stand on it for a couple of hours and see how frozen your legs get.

Oh yeah St.John's baby! Let's kick some Central Americam ass! It would be a great idea to play a WCQ here and maybe it will happen next cycle...or more likely maybe not. Wouldn't hold my breath for too much with TO coming on stream next spring but what do you do? Spreading it around would be nice but frankly I would settle for just more games, don't care where just get playing.
