Peters will not be there.

twtd.co.uk says that he has withdrawn from the squad which would've kept him out of action for Ipswich from Dec. 10th to the 21st. I guess that means that the camp might start on the 11th (next Monday).

Still haven't heard any news of this from the CSA.

Not a bad lineup considering it isn't on any FIFA dates.

Men’s U-20 to train in Florida and face US in Friendly

Ottawa, Ontario - The Canadian Soccer Association is proud to announce that Canada’s Men’s U-20 World Cup Team will train at the IMG Academy in Bradenton, Florida from December 10-21, 2006. The camp will be highlighted by an International Friendly against the U-20 USA Men’s National Team on December 20th, 2006 at 3:30pm ET.

Since this camp does not fall on FIFA international dates, most European-based players will remain with their clubs. Consequently, the roster is composed mainly of North American-based players.

This training camp will give an opportunity for Head Coach Dale Mitchell to look at another group of core players in preparation of the FIFA U-20 World Cup this summer. In fact, this will be the first time these college players will be gathered together since the July 2006 US match series in Canada. Since then, these players have been competing mostly in the NCAA regular and post seasons.

“The camp in Florida will allow us to assess where this group of players is at as we begin monthly preparations leading in to the FIFA U-20 World Cup in July. We will have a camp each month to give players an opportunity to show that they belong in the final squad, and also prepare players who are currently without a club for next summer's tournament,” said Head Coach Dale Mitchell. “Obviously there are players with clubs who will not be available for all of our preparations.”

The momentum will continue in the New Year as Dale Mitchell is planning to bring the group together for another training camp in early 2007.

Canada’s most recent International Friendly was a 2:1 come-from-behind win against the Czech Republic in Prague, Czech Republic on October 6th, 2006.

The new guy: Tosaint Rickets.

So Nunez is without a club and Kalthoff isn't with Southampton anymore. I'm still surprise that guys like Attakora and Lumley can't find a club.

To Rickets has been there before, just not in a while. Good to see Kaltoff back even though he is no longer with Southampton. I thought I read that Attakora's trial at St. Pauli did not start until January?

Wonder if they asked any of the groningen boys? I know that Geizen has told me that he'd rather play for holland, so screw him, but the other 2?

Haber has been at the last 2 camps, perhaps Groningen said no? I do not think Nonni has ever been called. Geizen is only an 89, eligible for the next U20s, but if he has no interset in playing for Canada .... so be it.

I don,t think he's ever been called for this group according to my thread about all the players that were called since the England camp in October 2005. http://www.canadian-soccer.com/forum/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=10403

But already called or not, we'll have excellent depth for this team and I think we'll benefit from that.

They're missing forwards Zimmerman and Smith who will be fighting with Altidore for the 2 spots up top. In mid, Bradley and Rogers would be likely starters in the holding and right mid positions. In D, i think Besagno and Sebotic might be the only ones missing and they're not locks to start.

I'll be in Florida for Xmas....Does anyone know if tickets are available for this game?

Send an e-mail to Eric Lamoureux at the CSA seeking informations about this. Or maybe you could try IMG Academy, they have a nice website. Good luck.

All this talk about Giezen, Dad is very Dutch and I believe has moved back to Holland to keep an eye on the boy. He has all the contacts with Groningen and has been taking his boy, along with Bonifacio, Nonni and Haber out to Holland for trials a number of times over the last two years for exposure. Money helps. These boys are very talented but dollars paved the way for where they are now.

Anyone recall the article in the Vancouver Sun or Province when Giezen's dad said it was just a "fluke" that five of his 89's all moved on to professional clubs (Alex Martinez in Mexico via family connections)? Bull excrement. All plotted and planned.

Haber has been involved with the Cdn nat'l pgm since he was 15 and is a star in the making.
