loyola Posted November 24, 2006 Share Posted November 24, 2006 Men's U-15 Team Friday, November 24, 2006 Men’s U15 National Team To Play USA The Canadian Men’s U15 National Team (players born on or after January 1, 1991) will compete in their first ever international friendly on Saturday, December 2nd against the United States U15 National Team as a part of a week-long camp at the IMG Academy in Bradenton, Florida. Head Coach, Sean Fleming, will assemble his team for the first time since a March training camp in Surrey, BC and will have his first opportunity to see the young Canadians against international competition. “It is a great opportunity for these athletes to showcase their talents against some of the best in North America. It will be two very challenging games,” explained Fleming. The team will depart this Saturday, November 25th and will challenge the IMG Academy U15s in a tune up match on Wednesday, November 29th before taking on the United States U15s on December 2nd. loyola Posted November 30, 2006 Author Share Posted November 30, 2006 Men's U-15 Team Thursday, November 30, 2006 Men’s U15 Canadian National Team earns draw Ottawa, Ontario – The Men’s U15 Canadian National Team earned a come-from-behind 1-1 draw on Wednesday in a friendly against the IMG Academy at their home pitch in Bradenton, Florida. The Canadians earned the match’s first scoring opportunity inside the first five minutes on a hot and sunny day when Ashtone Morgan’s cross found Mircea Ilcu unmarked at the far post. Unfortunately for the Canadians, Ilcu’s header was sent just wide of goal. After a good display of possession and skill from both teams in an evenly matched first 20 minutes, IMG Academy found the break they were looking for when the Canadian defence was unable to deal with a cross into the box in the 21st minute. The ensuing scramble sent IMG up a goal from close range. After the goal, the Canadian defence tightened and IMG Academy rarely troubled the Canadian goal for the remainder of the match. Playing their first competitive match as a group, Canadians came together in the second half carrying much of the play and create several quality chances before equalizing through a James Stamopoulos header in the 59th minute. After a good spell of Canadian possession, Jeremy Halliday swung a quality cross into the far post where Stamopoulos met it on the bounce and left the IMG Academy goalkeeper helpless with his header across the goal. Despite continuing to dominate play in the game’s dying minutes, the young Canadians were unable to find a game winner and were forced to settle for a 1-1 draw. “For the first time playing together, I was happy that we gave up very few chances and that at times we created some very good chances,” said Head Coach Sean Fleming. “The boys have showed a great attitude throughout the week and hopefully we can get a bit better before Saturday.” The U15s will get their first taste of international competition on Saturday, December 2 when they take on the USA at 10:00am once again at IMG Academy. It's an Academy and they don't have the same staff as the USA NT. You can look at their website (http://www.imgacademies.com/soccer/default.sps?itype=8036) you'll find some infos.
