well they want to keep up good relations for the important matches - and not much point in calling an exhausted player.

I would agree if he had played in those 3 matches, but Josh didn't get off the bench. In this case, hard to side with the club.

Understandable after 120 minutes of football and a long flight.

In fact, DeRo is not coming at all. From Ed's post, above:

Also a short piece on slam sports today confirms that McKenna (sick) and both De Rosario and Serioux (injured Sunday) will NOT be going to Hungary. Peters has been called up and they are scrambling for another body or two (how about Blerim Rrustemi??).

In a way, I'm not too upset about Simpson, deRosario and Serioux not making it out. Josh played great in the Jamaica series and deserves time off with his club. Bringing the Houston guys over was always a bit over-ambitious, even though it would have been great to see them suit up with us, sometime this Fall.

Not sure if Reda is injured or was simply not selected. He, Grande, Johnson and/or Edgar would be good additions, if it can be managed in time. Glad for Peters.

Radzinski to captain Canada against Hungary in soccer friendly

08:59:07 EST Nov 14, 2006

Canadian Press

BUDAPEST (CP) - Striker Tomasz Radzinski will captain Canada against Hungary on Wednesday in a soccer friendly.

Radzinski takes over the captain's armband from defender Kevin McKenna, who was unable to join the team because of flu.

Interim coach Stephen Hart has other worries: Dwayne DeRosario and Adrian Serioux are unavailable after picking up injuries Sunday while helping the Houston Dynamo to the MLS Cup.

Ipswich midfielder Jaime Peters has been called in and Hart is looking for more additions.

Andrew told me today that Jaime Peters will show up for the game as well as another player by the name of Andrew who plays in Hungary, possibly Andrzej Mateusz but thought he was no longer in the country.Dont quote me on that last one. Hainault says the squad is doing well with the players they do have for now.

i didn't know josh hadn't played ed. ...

is josh getting much time with kaiserslautern?

They had a rash of injuries so Josh had plenty of p/t in the first 9 games or so. They have had some good form with the current m/f (some back from inury) in the last 3 games, so Josh has to bide his time and wait for a chance again. A FCK fan posted that he is well liked by the coach so he should be alright in the long run.

I'm a little surprised David Edgar hasn't been given a call. England have called up Micah from Man City who's at least a year younger. On the bright side, it looks like we'll get to see Tam in the middle with Hainault. That should be exciting. I predict both will handle themselves very well and Hungary won't get a sniff lest they receive a bogus penalty...

Andrew Ornoch with Papa Lombard?

This situation never should have come up. To think that Dero and Serioux would have been able to make it across the pond and been valuable members of the squad was wishful at best. This just isn't hindsight on my part. After Houston qualified for the finals I said they shouldn't have been called and was surprised when they were. Now we are in a scrambling situation when the players barely have enough time to get to know each other as it is.

This was mishandled from the beginning.

Does any one know anything about this kid? Very interesting selection...

Im wondering what might have warrented a second division player from Hungary getting the call over somone like Johnson, Occean, Grande, or Reda etc.. All I can think of is that the kid is very close on short notice. But still it makes me wonder if we will be seeing more of these kind of "would be B team call ups" as Yallop did from time to time.

Rocco Placentino impressed against Spain...

Well he's young (just 21) so that is something. Obviously he probably wouldn't have been called for this match if they didn't need someone who was already in the country. If he turns out to be the best player on the field tomorrow it is going look even more embarassing that he wasn't called up to begin with.

I am now thinking this will be the starting line-up:

Friend

Radzinski Hume

Bernier De Guzman Issey

Jazic Atiba Tam Pozniak/Braz

Sutton (even though I'd go with Josh)

Peters comes on for Hume or Issey, maybe Hainault as well in central D, other than that I wouldn't be surprised if we don't use 3 subs.

For what it's worth, I would go with...

Wagenaar

Pozniak - Nsaliwa - Hainault - Jazic

Bernier - Hutchinson - deGuzman

Hume - Friend - Radzinski

subs: Sutton, Braz, Issey, Peters, Ornoch

No question about the front 6. Thats the best we got. All our questions revolve around the back 4 and keeper. Hopefully, we'll get some concrete answers tomorrow.

poached from big soccer archives (I know this info must be on here somewhere in a newer form but wanted to put something in this thread given the callup)...

Soccer: Detroit Mercy junior forward Andrew Ornoch will forgo his senior season and has signed a contract with Lombard Papa FC of the Borsodi Liga League, the top league in Hungary. Ornoch, the Horizon League player of the year, scored 10 goals and had five assists last season.
