On that note, the weekly preview:

Both Bundesliga 1 teams with Canucks are in action on Saturday this weekend.

Energie Cottbus, led by Kapitan Kevin McKenna, could add to their good start (2W 2D 1L - 8pts) by winning away against Arminia Bielefeld (1W 1D 3L - 4pts).

Daniel Imhof and VfL Bochum (1 W 1D 3L - 4tps) visit the 3rd promoted team Alemannia Aachen (2W 3L - 6pts) who have also had a surprisingly good start.

In the Bundesliga 2, Josh Simpson and FC Kaiserslautern are in action right now, away to SpVgg Unterhaching, looking for their first away points. Josh has been active from the start.

Josh is subbed out in the 60th minute after Kaiserslautern go ahead 1-0 (and very shortly after Josh picked up a yellow - keeping him safe?)but SpVgg Unterhaching come back for a home draw. Decent away result for K-town.

Both teams with Canadians take a 1-0 lead into the dressing room at halftime, but are beaten in the second half. Daniel Imhof does not see the field in VfL Bochum's 2-1 loss to hosts Alemannia Aachen and Arminia Bielefeld storm back with 3 straight to down visitors Energie Cottbus 3-1. Kevin McKenna has his usual 90 minutes.

Big win for Kent O'Connor and 1860 Muenchen amateurs today, 3-1 over FC Saarbruecken. Kent replaces the starting left back in the 68th minute with his club up 2-1.

Blerim Rrustemi plays his usual 90 minutes in central defence as Borussia Moenchengladbach amateurs and SV Wilhelmshaven battle to a scoreless draw.

No sign of Jonathan Bourgault in Sunday's FC St.Pauli II game in the Oberliga Nord. O'Connor played Saturday for 1860, perhaps Sunday was designated travel day for the U20's.

Maycoll Canizales was not on the field for FC Oberneuland's 5-0 demolition of VfL 93 Hamburg in the Oberliga Nord.

Victor Oppong and SV Waldhof Mannheim and Robert Kerek and SC Bahlinger are in a 3-way tie (with SSV Ulm 1846 - off topic - these guys were in the B1 5 yrs ago or so?) for first place in the Oberliga Baden-Wuertemberg after round 8. Victor Oppong goes his usual 90 minutes in Saturday's 2-0 win for Waldhof Mannheim. Robert Kerek and company drew 1-1 on Friday.

FYI, Josh Simpson and company are on a hiatus till the wekeend of October 14th. The Kaiserslautern team, one of the youngest in the Bundesliga 2, have huge home support at Fritz-Walter Stadium, with over 100K attendance (40K, 27K, 40K) over their first 3 home games. Up next is a home game against Erzebirge Aue on the 15th of October.
